Without hesitation
It's just perfect.
One watch and one reason.
And yes, you do have to pare it down to one watch.
I'll kick it off with Sinn EZM2 and oil filled.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Without hesitation
It's just perfect.

Wanted - Damasko DC57
Difficult to define best. Probably my most desirable watch was my 1974 Mark 3 dial DRSD, but desirability isn't everything. It is long gone now. I sourced a mark 3 fat font insert and a 25-39 tropic superdome crystal to return it to it's original appearance.

Since putting on the bracelet (originally purchased it on the leather but added bracelet this year)

Christ, an impossible question. I could use a hundred different criteria to define best.
I'll go with the long-gone Citizen BM6400. Good looking, versatile, as hard as nails, accurate, reliable, well-priced.
Might seek out another one...
Easy one for me Dave. It has to be the Speedie Pro. Until recently I thought my 3570 would never leave until this came up from Tony. It's just so versatile and takes to any strap option like a duck to water. Truly a classic.
Hope you don't mind me linking to your wonderful photography Tony

The best I've owned, but no longer own was my AT Quartz, superb detail and beautiful build but I felt it was a bit too flashy for me.
I'd have another, probablt the smaller 36mm version , with the plain black or blue dial though.
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra by Robert Seymour, on Flickr
A white dialled Tudor 79180 'big block'. I loved that watch
because it is the best one I own
Martyn
I'd find it a lot easier to pick out those that weren't/aren't the best...
I think I'll go with one of my Grand Seikos. Not the most expensive or practical watch I've owned and there are others I wear more often however no other makes me look at it more for reasons other than wanting to know the time.
Watch - GS SBGX063
Reason - dial/handset
And I've just realised that this may be my favourite watch but not necessarily my best...
Submariner Date 116610LN. Predictable choice but such a strong all-rounder

My Breitling daily wearer, suits my 7 1/2" wrist, robust, oh and good looking of course!

My Omega 2254 - rugged, yet slim enough to fit easily under a shirt cuff.
Tag heuer Monaco is my favourite watch ever, it would be the last one in my collection to go.
But......
The ubiquitous Submariner is the BEST watch I've owned/own. The ceramic bezel, glide lock and comfortable bracelet plus it's undeniable presence. I've owned a few Rolex in the past but THIS is something else. I sold 3 watches to buy it, and it's probably displaced 3 others as well! It's rare that I reach past it for something else.
This one. It's always the first onto my wrist. It's fantastically well made, looks great and tends to fly under the radar mor compared to some other luxury divers

Lange & Sohne 1815 sold on this fine forum during my insane flipperitis period a few years ago.
The Monaco for just a great timepiece
This, best of both worlds!
Well, it took some time to make a choice between 3 current SS Sub-s and this GMT-Master II.
I found it just a bit more interesting then Sub, non-date Sub and somewhat more versatile then the Hulk.
So my best single watch I have owned is this GMT-Master II (don´t mention these, which follow shortly).

My Sinn U1 so quite similar to you, Op 😉

I get the most enjoyment out of this. Everything about it is a joy.
Plus it was an absolute bargain.
I very nearly went with the old man's 5513 but the lack of a date keeps it out of the running.
So I will go with my SBBN013
GMT for me as well, but an older one:
Although I have others that could be considered "better" in some ways, this one just has that element of charm that I find a bit lacking in the sterile perfection of Rolex's modern stuff. It appears that I'm not the only one that appreciates the matte look, either. And it doesn't need babying; I have no problem wearing this one as intended in water or anywhere else.
Though I gotta say that the 16520 is giving it some real competition lately as the hypothetical "one-watch" choice. Again, perhaps not my "best", but if I have to pare down, it's staying until the final round.
The SMP 2254.50, as someone said above it has great build quality, and is versatile - slim enough to go under a cuff, yet looks great on a NATO.
Strangely it's currently the watch I wear the least!
Easy
And only one reason?
Easy
Omega Speedmaster Broadarrow 1957
I'v had two of these, first time I let it go to 'move up to my first Rolex' this didn't last long and I flipped for another white Broadarrow 1957! I then had to let that go eventually (along with some other watches) to buy the wife a new car. So I think this has become my Unicorn/Eleanor...
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Okay, then this. It cost less than £100 and I do regret letting it go, so I will look to replace it with another at the first opportunity. Clear dial, functional and comfortable.

Joining this place six years ago, I thought the first acquisition was the best, but instantly fell into the role of ‘flipper’, having in excess of 200 ‘keepers’, until I managed to buy this.
It has found it’s way to be one of only two watches I now own, the other only being displaced occasionally.
A watch with an amazing selection of complications, delivered in a very subtle and discrete manner, suitable for all occasions.
My "the one" is my Sinn EZM1.
Veeerrrry understated, elegant, almost, with high functionality.
Dave
Got to be this:
Slim, elegant, with lume, wear it with anything.
Sinn 203 Arktis
OK, it doesn't have an esoteric, in-house movement or a ceramic bezel in shit brown or anything like that, but just look at the dial!!!!
It's also a 300M diver, rugged enough to wear everyday, would work at temperatures far lower than I would and (most importantly) it's stunningly beautiful.
Not my most expensive watch and, possibly, not the last I'd part with if push came to shove (although close to it!), but it doesn't everything I could want of a watch (except possibly having a GMT movement).

Good question and something I have often pondered....
For me it has to be this, often discussed on this forum with far and wide divided opinions, but for me superbly over engineered, fits my wrist perfectly and has presence.
Sorry no picture
Speedmaster Pro 50th.
Like many on here I've been through many watches over the years, if I had to pick a favourite it's hard to beat the 116600 SDc as a great all rounder. Still love this watch and wear it most days
