I've given it up as a bad job! It's like being on the big dipper at the fairground. The only good thing about the BBC coverage was Helen Skelton - a breath of fresh air and very easy on the eye but the PC brigade had a go at her dress sense - spoilsports!
Loved Helen climbing Salisbury cathedral spire some time ago.

BBC coverage of the cycling is fine, watching it now.
True excellent like the diving. Great efforts from out lot

All I seem to see when I turn on the BBC is cycling. Apparently we're very good at it but I find it excruciatingly boring/nerdy. Silly helmets, tight outfits and they just whizz along. Clearly I'm missing something?!!

Go Mo! Had to stay up for that one, what an incredible athlete.
And on another occasion they were showing the women's Kayaking final and then seconds before the British Woman was about to start they switched to Murray's match because he was starting to struggle in the last set!
In the end she only finished 5th but she had a chance of a medal or even gold so why didn't they just wait for another minute to show her run? Murray's match went on for another half an hour.
No doubt about that. The way he recovered from that fall was remarkable.
But there were so many great performances from the GB team yesterday, including some younger athletes with great futures, as well as swansongs (maybe) from greats like Jessica Ennis.
Also some fantastic moments like that Puerto Rican tennis player winning a first ever gold for her country.
I have no complaints about BBC coverage. If you wanted uninterrupted coverage of a particular sport then you could just press the red button and then choose it from the blue button menu.
Third in the table! Incredible. You only have to view the full table on the BBC website to realise what an incredible achievement that is.
Would loved to have seen Jessica get the gold - she's such a lovely lady and showed that in her interview afterwards. However silver is still brilliant.
As for Mo - what a legend and the greatest even before his 5000m which hopefully he'll secure
Click through the BBC's Timeline: Olympic Powers to see how far back from 2012 you have to go to find GB (& NI) anywhere near the top of the table.
Hmm...I don't think they have enough channels to provide parallel coverage, so until they invent the clairvoyant control...
The Beeb's coverage is vastly superior to Spain's efforts :-(
Two channels, one of them littered with advert breaks and neither showing any coverage (AFAICS) if there isn't a Spanish team/competitor in it. Even if there's a 'final' without Spain involved all I can find is brief highlights...

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
Thanks to the Beeb I was able to see my former school student Elis Ligtlee *) win the Gold Medal! Dutch TV failed to air this... The last word hasn't been said about that! In the mean time, we're very happy for Elis!
Menno
*) I had her younger brother in class as well - wait until the next OGs... Only 18 now he's considered a little too young for the Games. So he's preparing for the next games. He's as good as his sister on the track.
Edit: Just watched Justin Rose on the 11th hole...good recovery!

Brilliant from Whitlock - good luck in the pommel Max!
Lol - it's comedy gold the golfing crowd - been watching it for 5 minutes and a phone has gone off, another bloke picked up the ball and marshalls shouting at people to move away from in front of the ball.
Come on Rose.
Rose Gold! :-)
Of COURSE golf should be an Olympic sport :)

The food-hall in an Olympic/Paralympic Village is one of the most interesting experiences known to man! It's like the biggest motorway service station you can imagine, serving pretty much any cuisine you can imagine 24 hours a day and it does include a McD's - which is generally the most popular station, although mostly for athletes who have finished competition and have denied themselves for the previous 4 years.
One of my favourite moments in London (aside from one of the athletes I there was with medalling of course) was seeing a Somali athlete coming out of the food-hall balancing 4 Big Macs in each hand and trying to navigate his way back to his apartment block with out dropping them :)
Louis Smith in 1st...three to go on the pommel horse.
Edit: Still there and two, inc Max Whitlock, to go.
Edit2: Way to go lads... Solid Sunday...?

Whitlock Gold
Smith Silver
Smith looks gutted, poor guy, looks like he genuinely thought he could get gold.
wow the best nation on earth right now considering population size. We are really good at sport it seems!
Amazing - we've overtaken China and are in 2nd!! Staggering games for us and there's more to come tonight alone :-)
It's a completely brilliant evening Max is an absolute legend. What a pro too - can you imagine him entering an event where he can't do two of the disciplines to a reasonable standard? KJT in heptathlon has really frustrated me.
Sailing: Giles Scott guaranteed gold in Finn class...on Tuesday.
Edit: Go Cav...GO!

How much cycling can a man take ? I hope Murray wins the tennis it's very slow stuff and then bolt wins the 100 metres
Wow, that was tense. Well done Andy.
And Bolt doing it yet again !
It has been a very entertaining and satisfying evening with the epic tennis final and the charismatic Colombian Caterine Ibarguen taking the triple jump gold. I also learned that the rather attractive Portuguese triple jumper Patrícia Mamona has a surname that made the local commentators snigger.
All topped off by a sensational run from Wayde Van Niekerk, and a corking 100m final. I hope that Bolt achieves the treble treble.
Great stuff from Bolt - can't believe 4 years has passed since I saw him do 9.63 (olympic record) in London. The whole theatre and crowd interaction from Bolt is great.
Now meet Wayde Van Niekerk's coach: link.
it seems to be only about the winners.
sometimes there are people trying even harder, putting more in who know they cant win.
being born with the physical ability that more or less guarantees you to win is one thing, carrying on against the odds is something else.
Some comedy gold at this Olympics, as well as some medals and stuff
Brighty
Of course it's about the winners but it's not just about the winners who have a gold medal hanging round their necks. Everyone competing at the games is a winner.
No amount of physical ability will guarantee that you are the best, each and every competitor has put in countless hours of training and made huge sacrifices to even get to the Olympics!
The Olympics are a celebration of personal (and team) achievement, the Paralympics even more so.
