I didn't know him but it's always sad to lose a fellow forum member.
RIP Sean
Today I received the sad news that Seano (Sean Oates) died on July 28th.
Although not the most prolific poster on TZ, Sean's enthusiasm for watches (and Newcastle United) was huge.
Over the past 3 years I got to know him well. He travelled frequently between his home in Nottingham and Newcastle, often stopping by at my place to bring me a watch to fix. I shall miss our discussions about watches, football, cars and the world in general; his good-natured enthusiasm always shone through and I always enjoyed his company.
Shaun was taken ill early in the year and appeared to be progressing well after surgery. His passing has come as a shock, the forum has definitely lost one of the good guys.

RIP Sean
That's sad.
I remember his football posts especially.
RIP Sean.
Cheers,
Neil.

Very sad. If his family want to know anything about his watch collection in the months to come - they know where to look.
Never knew him, but always sad when a community loses a member in this way. RIP.
Sad news and a fellow Toon supporter.
Sad news indeed, condolences to his family and anyone who knew Sean. RIP from a fellow Magpie.

Wow.
Seano came to Stockport to drop me off a HUGE amount of "classic and sports cars" magazines in exchange for a donation to the fundraiser, and he brought me a superb hardback HUGE tag-Heuer coffee table book too.
Spent less than an hour with him but we had a great chat about Porsche (he'd had a 911 IIRC)
RIP
I didnt know him, sad news RIP.
Sad news and a real shock. I didn't know him well, but we didn't live miles apart and were trying to arrange to meet up (we both own Vizsla dogs).
I knew he was having an op and the last message we swapped he was 'recovering' :(
Not good ☹️ Sorry to hear
It's awful for the likes of walkerwek1958 to have to put it on otherwise people like Seano would just never be heard of again . It's mad
Sad news, indeed.
RIP
I'm truly shocked. Sean was not only a fellow watch fan and Newcastle United supporter, he was often a friend and ally to me. I've had many a conversation by PM and he always came across as a really nice lad.
So sad.
Very sorry to hear this.
Sad news. RIP Seano.
"A man of little significance"
Terribly sad news - thanks for letting us know Paul.
RIP
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
R.I.P sorry to hear the news thoughts and prayers with his family.
Very sorry to hear that. My condolences to his family.
RIP
Col.
My condolences, horrible to hear this.
Sad news.
Very sad to hear
R.I.P. Sean
My condolences to all family and friends
Bad show,
RIP
Loss of any 'colleague' is never a good thing, i'd like to add my condolences to Seans family and friends who lets face it are unlikely to even read these tributes.
As to how many members may have simply passed on unnoticed? possibly more than we may imagine, numerous names once familiar to me post no more. I suspect passing unnoticed will undoubtedly befall some of us including myself as no-one in my 'family' will post here to formally announce my demise.
Its always a disappointment to me when hostility's flare up here, we literally have no idea what awaits us and negativity is such a waste of energy and effort. Just being nice is so much easier regardless of ones general contributions or items for sale. There is one boss here as most know but you'd think the forum had at least half a dozen 'moderators'
