1H '16 watch spend - what have you bought in the first 6 months of the year?

We are nearly halfway through 2016 & I was wondering exactly how active buyers have been over this period? I have managed to purchase two watches so far this year, the first was in February, an Anonimo Millemetri 2000:

The second was only last week, a Tudor Heritage Chronograph (grey dial):

I've told myself that's it for the year, but I guess I'll have to see how long that will last for;-).

How busy have you been in 1H '16?

For the first time in I don't know how long I think I've actually gone 6 months without buying anything. I feel sad :(

Not quite as special (well to me they are) but after a few trades etc I have gained these two

    1. I received a CW Slimline four hours before the end of 2015, and sold it last week

    2. I bought a G10 in January and sold it last month

Ownership of both had its pleasures and taught me stuff about my tastes, so no regrets. But rather more successful have been a pair of Longines manuals, both 34mm.

    3. This from 1961-ish, 9ct gold, bought from the SC, a lovely little nugget of a watch, like a fat little robin. (Desperately needs new crystal though!)

    4. This from 1971, bought from Singapore, already one of my favourite watches. My appreciation of integrated lugs has been steadily growing over the last couple of years - the clear straight lines give the watch masculinity without needing bulk (my wrist isn't interested in bulk)

Bit disappointed to have sold half of my purchases, but on the other hand, only four purchases in six months. Veryyy impressive ;)

As for the rest of the year, I've a dealer in Singapore trying to find the vintage GS of my dreams, but I suspect the recent currency fluctuations might have pushed the price of one of those just a little too far out of my reach. We'll see.

Nothing wrong with those two my friend, I quite fancied a Smiths PRS68 myself, but missed the boat new :-(.

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Sometimes it takes a watch a few months to find just the right owner for it

A few... Started the year with a Genève Dynamic, then added a Pogue, a Tintin, a G10 and a cheeky Zissou Amphibia. Most recently a Gen 1 X-33 and a Sturmanskie 31659 both of which should arrive here on Friday.

Nil. It's a year since I bought my Archimede Deck Watch from SC, and having decided I like the style and size I suppose it'll be at least another year before I buy another (Dornbluth, next and last). Prior to that it was the Voyager in Dec 2013, and the Everest in Dec 2011.

Just the two, an SKX007 on rotation between an isofrane style rubber and a nato (from TaketheCannoli) and a Fortis B-42 Marinemaster (from UKMike). Likely to add a third in the second release of the Helm Vanuatu when it pops up around August.

I am sorry you started this thread now, it's like owning up to some terrible deed. All I can say is fair cop Gov'nor.

    Watches in:

    Bulova Accutron Astronaut
    Omega Speedmaster 39mm Automatic (reduced)
    Steinhart Ocean One Military V1
Steinhart Ocean One Military - Gnomon limited edition
    CWC Quartz Diver
Rolex Explorer 1 with black out dial
    Steinhart Ocean One Vintage
Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Red V1
Omega Speedmaster Apollo XIII Snoopy (2015 version)
Raven Vintage Series - 40mm no date
    Seiko Green Dial Alpinist
    Orient Blue Dial Mako

    Watches out:

    Rolex 1665 Mark 3 DRSD
Rolex Explorer 1 with black out dial
    Steinhart Ocean One Vintage
Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Red V1
    Steinhart Ocean One Military V1
Steinhart Ocean One Military - Gnomon limited edition
Raven Vintage Series - 40mm no date
    Seiko Green Dial Alpinist
    CWC Quartz Diver
    Bulova Accutron Astronaut
    Omega Speedmaster 39mm Automatic (reduced)

This year has been a bit of a journey, I have tried owning a big ticket item, lots of smaller valued homage type watches and a few inbetween. Each watch was worn for at least a week, with the exception of the Raven which only managed to get on the wrist once for a wrist shot.

I have consolidated the collection down to two at present:

The first is rarely off the wrist these days and will never become a safe queen or live in its box untouched - it is just too nice for that and needs to be worn and appreciated everytime you look at it.

The second is a strange fish, the cheapest watch I have bought this year, under £100 - but I love it and it is going nowhere. Just shows how a single watch, out of the blue can capture your heart strings.

So what about the second half of 2016. I did try a WTB for two of the Speedmaster limited editions - Gemini IV with the blue dial and the Apollo XI 35th anniversary with the panda dial - but not a sniff. I did even find myself looking at that stunning white dial Daytona on Mike Wood's site last night, but I think that may be a little out of budget.

I am certainly not going to repeat the process of the first half of the year, too much messing about, too much money lost and sick of the sight of the inside of the local Post Office.

Come October there is always this...

I was going to have a cull, so I'll check...

    In :

    Omega Seamaster Big Yellow
    Seiko SARB017 (Alpinist)
    Zenith Espada

    Out :

    Smiths Everest
    CW Trident
    Omega Seamaster Cone f300

OK, not such a great cull then...

Been a very slow first half of 2016 for me (compared to last few years). Settling in after an initial shopping spree when starting out again with watches.

Only 3 in so far this year after a 2015 that saw 18 acquisitions. I have even gotten round to selling off some box-dwellers that weren't getting any wear.

    In this year:
    Mühle Glashütte 29er big
A Mido Multistar I need to have serviced
    G-shock GWX56

If a few more leave a Tourby Marine might be the next incoming.
