    A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Boutique Chronograph Review

Up for review is my A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Boutique Chronograph which I bought in Paris last year and finally got around to reviewing :)

First lets get the specifications out of the way:

    ----------
    Reference: 414.026
    Case: White gold
    Dial: Solid silver, argenté
Hands: Rhodium gold and blued steel
    Diameter: 39.5 mm
    Height: 11.0 mm
    Lug Width: 20.0 mm
    Movement: L951.5

Boutique Limited: Released on the 200th birthday of F. A. Lange
    ----------

    What I love about it:

    - Perfect Dimensions, just under 40mm is a perfect size. Compared to the bigger brother Datograph, it sits thinner and is more comfortable on the wrist.
    - Dial, love the blue font colour along with the more traditional Pulsation scale, has a very "clinical, Germanic" look to the watch. The pulsation scale is done on another layer of the dial which adds depth and is also the reason why i prefer this design to the standard line.
    - Pure chronograph. No dates, no power reserve, nothing. Just a real pure classic Chrono.
    - The finish of the movement of course! I was also invited to the Manufacture in Glashutte to see the finishing in person, amazing. Every single piece is finished by hand and it really is exquisite.
    - The "feel" of the watch. Specific examples such as setting the time, the hands, hours and minutes both stop and feel precise and doesn't wriggle around even when crown is pushed in. Really precise finishing. The movement of course hacks too.
    - The white gold adds a real "warmth" to an otherwise austere look.
    - Met the gentleman who engraved my watch in Glashutte!

    Not so keen about:
    - Price. Yeah.
    - Some people take issue with the position of the subdials as the movement was more likely designed to house the double date at the top like the datograph. Personally I feel it makes it unique but I can see why some people take issue with this.
    - Does not come on a deployant.
    - The traditional movement beats at 18,000. Whilst I have no issues with this, some people prefer a more "modern" speed. Timing wise, it is excellent.

    Hope you enjoyed it!

    It's alright I guess

Thanks for the review! I don't mind the sub dial position and I'm in total agreement a chrono 'pure' is lovely - no faf with a date or anything else just the chrono.

Now brush up on the movement pics and get some up close and personal ones!

Very nice indeed, in fact my favourite Lange and the best version of the 1815 chronograph. This version has the pulsation scale running around the outside like the original but with scaled up subdials, it works very well indeed. Congratulations, lovely watch

Agree that the pulsation scale adds a warmer vintage feel, it looks great.
Also agree with OP that at the money a deployant would really set it off.
You mentioned you bought it in the Paris boutique; was it a whim or sourced specifically? Any discounts at the Lange AD's?

Fantastic watch, congratulations on the purchase. The photos are of a really high quality. Could we bother you to post macro shots and close ups of the dial, face, hands and movements from time to time?

    cheers
