Recommend a strap for this watch, please ...

Have just bought this yellow gold Ulysse Nardin, but the strap doesn't suit it - in colour, material and even construction.

    What would you recommend, please?

A lot depends upon the effect you want and when you're going to wear it. For a better all blue look, how about the Di Modell Teju Lizard in mid-blue?

You have some colour going there so I Would pick black without contrast stitching in a finish to your liking. Light brown as a second, as it shares the warmth with the gold and makes the dial pop more.

I'd say a blue alligator or lizard but matching the strap to the dial is going to involve a brave choice. If the lug width is 18mm I have a royal blue Cousins fake alligator if you want to test the colour. The other option would be a trip to London and see what the best that Jean Rousseau can come up with.

All the recommendations so far are informative, include ideas I hadn't had, make good sense and I 'agree' with them.

It occurs to me, however, that the dial - guillochage flooded with lapis lazuli enamel - is 'busier' than the first image above shows.

The dial's clearer below (but in a steel case) and then again in a gold case (which it'll come in - but on a strap where the blues don't really match).

Do these images help more suggestions, please?

Really like this choice (like lapis lazuli) but it really is a blue coloured sensory overload combined together. Black toned would be my choice.

I think the original strap is ok myself. That dial will be quite tricky to match up colour wise. So, as other have said perhaps a black strap might suit. General rule, from what I gather, if the dial is busy go for a plain strap and if the dial is simple you can go for a more textured strap. However, given the dial is sort of both because of the vibrant colour you could go with either plain or textured.

Personally, you will make a statement either way

    Hirsch Lizard grain maybe?

I'd go pink leather. Either a bright gloss or a pastel nubuck.

And no. I'm not taking the pi$$.

Nice blue Stingray would look cool. I put this on the wife's VE.

's and PickleB's blues are both excellent, but SWMBO has pointed out that the Colour Wheel puts orange (in leather, tan) opposite blue, so perhaps this is the way to go ...

It's also available in gold (more like golden brown, really).

But if she insists, there's always their Lifestyle strap (available in orange):

    Dimensions

What are the dimensions of the strap?

Lug to lug and also how long are the two pieces of the strap you have (excluding buckle)?

This will limit your choice if it is a 19mm lug

You're right. Hirsch, for example, and Condor do all of the colours in all of the sizes, but not 19mm.

Actually, that's not strictly true. Hirsch do an ideal tan croc in 19mm, but only in 'LONG'.

I think you'll find that L is their normal length these days. Smaller sizes are M and long straps are XL:

Perhaps it's not PC to sell someone a small or a short strap?

PickleB, thank you very much, but your raised my hopes ... only for them to be dashed by a ruler.

I have a standard 'Rolex wrist' - no links out & no links in.

The 'normal length' strap the watch came on is 11cm & 7cm.

    It fits.

So, looking at your Hirsch chart, I'm 'M'. However, the Hirsch croc strap I want is only available as 'L'.

That's 'L' as in 'Too Long'.
