Very interesting, what a nice thing to find. Any chance of showing the movement?
I think you are right It defiantly looks like a re-cased pocket watch movement. The indication would be the seconds at 9. How big is it? Cool thing

Thanks, nice to see. From a bit of googling the movement looks very much like the Omega Royal Flying Corps pocket watches but like I said the experts will no doubt be along soon.
Remember they have a fair bit of radium in, glowing or not.
That's just gorgeous. Why do I never find a good one like that??
Brendan or Paul would probably know the answer to this one.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
I do not think the entire watch dates to WW1. I would put forward the possibility that someone, possibly a pilot, had the movement recased in this obviously quite dated case. Looking at the wear and patina, I would (stylistically) date the case as 1930's and the movement has been there since then.
Loving the dial and hands, very difficult to assess their originality, but I like the watch any way.

Bob could well be right, it might not be WW1 but it does look old enough and seems to be well put together.
Also given the size of some Panerai would be wearable for some. Looks a nice thing and I’m sure someone would buy it.

Looks very cool, but it's not got a sandwich dial otherwise the middle of the 6 would fall out !!! 😁
Case looks stainless. When did that become normal?
I'd have expected a 1915 watch to be silver (or plate), chrome or nickel.
Haedukate meeeeeeeee pleez.
If you have a UV light, it might be a good idea to check the luminosity of the numerals, as I see what looks like luminous paint markers behind each number.
The dial looks faded, it may originally have been much darker.
UV pens with a light are incredibly cheap on eBay, under a pound and well worth it as you can also invisibly mark your belongings with them.
Edit- a picture of my 1967 diver using one of those cheap pens, for reference.

That is a lovely big piece of kit. Congrats
Has anybody ever seen that case before on an Omega?
