ROYAL MARINES FALKLANDS ERA STRAP - CWC DIVER?

Has anyone tried one of these straps?

I am searching for a strap for a CWC diver which I currently wear on a simple pull through from Zuludiver. This has been a good strap for my G10 as well but I am now finding that the hole spacing is not quite right. As you all know this makes the watch too tight or loose.

I've considered the MN style straps as I guess they can be adjusted in mm increments but the buckle system seem to be a bit of a faff. I'm also searching for a velcro/hook and loop pull through which I see Steveostraps does but that may be a bit thick.

This CWC offering with the webbing style securing buckle looks like it might be a good solution? I assume it works like a friction buckle that, once the strap is at the right tension, the buckle is then 'pushed' tight against the strap material to secure it in place.

    Any thoughts? Thanks.

I put my CWC on a CWS paratrooper strap its very good and suits the watch, as do the basic NATOs they sell.

Silvermans and the Falklands era nonsense gets on my nerves.

Looking at it it looks like any number of webbing straps we had to secure things, its a no from me

Most bootnecks would not have been issued a watch and those that did would have had it on a issued grey 18mm NATO.

Yes, I might order a couple of cheapies from CNS.

It's not the Falklands connection that I like the idea of, but more the buckle system on that particular strap - I'd like something that can be micro adjusted to get the best fit.

I put my cwc on to take a photo and forgot.
The strap is 100% adjustable, make sure it’s the Paratrooper version.

ROYAL MARINES FALKLANDS ERA STRAP - CWC DIVER?

I have had one for a while
To be honest I don’t like it as it adds bulk to a thin diver.

A few photos to help illustrate what I mean.

It’s also a faff to put on no matter which way around to place the buckle

The strap now sits in my shooting bag as a general use / utility strap (which is what they were)

My strap is also an original (latter ones look to be made up by CWC) which means the stitching is awful and the end of the strap is simply cut and heat welded which is breaking with use and will soon need me to run a flame over it.

I think the MN style strap is a much better option IMO

    I hope this helps

How does the MN strap work with fixed bars on the CWC?

look on the website they have a special version.

The CNS paratrooper has a removable ladder buckle and a very low profile.

Thanks for those pics. Really helpful. I see what you mean - apart from the poor stitching (which I notice can also be seen on the CWC site pictures) it does look really clunky and I'd imagine the clasp catching on things throughout the day which would wind me up!
It's a 'no' from me also!

Many thanks also - not unsurprisingly, the green looks like its made for the CWC as does the one with the orange strap on the Squale.

Funnily enough that Squale was on my shortlist as my next watch but in the end went back to CWC. Maybe, one of my future purchases!

I did look at the Zulu Diver Octopod buckle with some green strap/webbing but again that might be look complicated for a simple watch so on balance I'll try a CNS cheapie to start with and go from there.

Off-topic, but Zulu Alpha may be worth a look.

My CWC diver is stuck on one. I've been very pleased with it.

Thanks - they have also come up on my search for a strap. I do like the idea of the adjustable buckle with this and the MN style strap. Do you find the buckle on the Zulu Alpha comfortable to wear and does it sit flat on your wrist? I'm such a 'lightweight' that it's all about comfort for me these days!!

Although the buckle on the ZA looks a bit chunky, I've never really noticed it on the wrist.

I seem to recall someone asking if they could be made with a single ring. Although I don't remember the reply in detail, it was stated that the two rings were required.

    There' a nice review here.

It is nice to have that stepless adjustment, the watch sits beautifully on the wrist.

Here's the buckle of the one on my PRS-82. It looks more obstrusive than it is.

Thanks for the reply and the link to the review by Rev-O.
