CWC RN diver on a steel bracelet?

So I've been looking for a watch as a daily wearer to work (office) but been pretty unsuccessful. I have a passion for divers and I'd like something to rotate with my Seamaster.

I have a CWC diver which I love and mainly wear for casual, I know others will disagree but I'm not keen on Nato's in the office.

So I had an idea (which most of you and certainly the purists won't like!) how about the CWC on a steel bracelet? Immediately the fixed Spring bars challenge springs to mind. I know someone on here fitted a steel jubilee a few years ago leaving the spring bars in tact but I wondered if anybody else has attempted this? Or alternatively has anyone had their CWC (or other) drilled to create lug holes?

I know it might seem like sacrilege to some but I can't help thinking the casual watch with nato gap is easier filled than a daily wearer, I'm thinking PRS18 (again) I foolishly sold the last one!

    So your thoughts and experiences?

I know a thread isn't a thread without pics so here goes (on its summer Nato!)

    Thanks a lot
    Andrew

A leather Flieger strap with screws at the lug ends would work and would look a bit more office-friendly.

Great shout and something I looked into but I have to confess I prefer my divers on steel bracelets. I might pick up one of Eddies leathers and give it a go though...

My MM300 (back in a few days from servicing courtesy of Mr Cannop of this parish) usually lives on a lovely and very posh tan Flieger made by Jurgen Straps. I like the contradiction of diver on flieger, and the combination looks good.

You should really be tarred and feathered for considering this abomination, if indeed not burned at the stake. However I'm going out for a bike ride early doors and too busy today.......... ;-) so here's a few alternatives for fixed bars.........

Rios do clip on straps - great for a quick change

Also - Steveo Straps will do you a custom made leather similar to their stock item for the G10

Phew thank goodness for the bike ride eh!
Thanks for the link, I did order a rubber nato from them but it was too short for my wrists so I returned it!
I shall check out rios and Steveo, thanks a lot!
Seems like it's back to the drawing board for a steel bracelet for shared daily duties and keep the CWC for casual! Really love the CWC RN......

NATOS are an abomination anywhere. They look cheap, are uncomfortable when wet, cause watch rash and absolutely will not do in the office.

Why not simply get a Rolex sub?

What office do you work in where your watch is immersed in water?

there is a fine line between i do not like nato straps and natos are cheap , abomination anywhere , uncomfortable etc.
Thousands of NATO strap fanatics can not be wrong and to sum it up , he has a watch with fixed bars so he can only use NATO type straps.
The question why he does not get a rolex sub is just stupid

That is not caused by the strap, at least not any nylon strap that I have (over 30 of them).

Keep the strap free of grit and sand and that won't happen.

Zeno sold some with a Zeno dial and hand set on them, the rest of the watch is the same as the Broad Arrow as near as I can tell, even the case back says PRS-3 Broad Arrow 30 BAR.

Aside from the spring bars they are strikingly similar to the CWC, a bit shinier due to the polished bezel and sapphire crystal. My only complaints are the date function (I dislike it on any watch) and the dial's lume is a bit green compared to that on the hands. I am hoping to replace the dial with a no date version at some point.

Apologies to the bezel police, I had it set to time how long it took me to mow the lawn and neglected to move it back before the photo. I did read that some of the Zenos had misaligned bezel pips but mine is spot on.

Great shout on the Zeno, in guessing there's too many of those around either?
Off to have a search, I love the simplicity of the CWC / Zeno face / hands layout etc.
    Thanks for the responses guys

Time Design UK and CHRONEXT boutique are UK distributors, but the watch in question is an older model and not in their current line-up.

A little fun thing from some years ago, Return To Zero, rather than just leave the bezel where it was at it's last use for timing something. ;-)

I'm a simple soul who divides his life between two timezones an hour apart. I always keep my watch on GMT/BST and leave my bezel set to eleven o'clock.

    So thread update!
With some great help from a friendly forum member (Saxon007 many thanks)
I now have a Zeno complete with a stainless steel strap, all be it a cheapy as I just wanted to try it in the first instance.
I think it looks ok, tempted to go with a more expensive stainless steel strap now I know I can get one to fit..........

I have to say it looks great Andy.
I'm the opposite to you though. I spend all my time taking watches off there metal bracelets and putting them on either Natos or rubber straps.

    Ha ha thanks Jon :)
You made me a nato convert with my (your!) CWC. That's going nowhere and has the nato angle covered! It's now on leather nato but I also have one of Eddies finest in black which is great!

Thanks to this thread, or even more the one mentioned above, (http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...(CWC-Rn-Diver))
I ended up putting my CWC RN on a Jubilee bracelet.

And it's fantastic! Transforms the watch completely.
I like NATOs, however when they get wet takes a while to dry, which always bothered me.
In fact I always wanted to try this combo. Very happy with the result
This is why TZ-UK is a great place!

Looks great! Would you mind sharing which jubilee you used? I like the contrast so this jubilee could be a good option for me too!

It does look rather neat on the jubilee - and might be even better on an oyster. I’m very tempted to give that a go. I don’t think the bracelet was identified in the original thread - what is it?

While the CWC really looks the part on a NATO, it would be great to have the option of a bracelet.

In fact it's only a generic 20mm Jubilee from the bay. The end links sitting slightly low between the lugs, but the curve on them didn't need adjusting.
