    Thanks for this...
    First season was incredible..despite subtitles.

I must admit that when I started watching I expected it to revert to English.. but after half an episode I was hooked anyway..

    Top man.

Subscribed short term to NowTV to watch GoT & Silicon Valley, one more to add to the list.

I suspect the twitching hand was a sure sign that it would return!

Can't wait for season 2. Thanks for the heads up.

Exclamation So who watched this and what did you think?

In my opinion it wasn't a patch on the first season and the plot was over complicated and not very well thought through.

The end was particular naff and I have NO interest in season 3, given who survives to carry on the dynasty.

Will there be a season 3?

I can't see it myself given that most of the key protagonists are no longer available

Not a patch on series one I felt

Just watched the end of Season 2, I agree not as good as Season 1 but still very watchable.

It's brutal, makes Game of Thrones look like an episode of Postman Pat

    I hope there is a Season 3

Couldn't agree more that it holds a devestatingly stark realism more so than any wire, breaking bad, peaky blinders can offer! The typical poetic tragedy and unapologetic violence left a disturbing mark on me. One scene in particular in a revenge hit for the key players loss of wife in the first series just really compounded how deep the revenge and levels the mafia will go to. Not your typical soldier on soldier sopranos warfare here folks. Noone is off limits to a mach10 weilding loony on a vespa in these carefully planned daylight acts. Shocking

Loved Season 1, Season 2 still pretty good, but Gomorrah doesn't come close to The Wire for depth or gritty realism IMO. The original book and film are a different matter and well worth checking out.

Good to know there’s a second season! Loved the first which I watched returning from a trip to Naples and thought it confirmed what I had seen there - lots of doggy looking areas, especially in the outskirts of the city. Naples was the city in Italy where I really felt I had to keep my wits about me, a world of its own I thought.

wasn't very aware of this series.....but was bored last Sunday afternoon and went into Sky box sets downloads and downloaded episode 1, series 1 ..... all I can say is by last night I had watched all 12 and the first of series 2.

brilliant acting which I think you actually notice more with the sub-titles

Don't think I've ever seen a character as cold and ruthless as Ciro in any film/series etc

Only started watching the 1st series on catchup recently, but finding it very good so far.

Season 1 was very good but Season 2...

...I found less so. Illogical, annoying and convoluted story.

Watched season 1 over the Christmas period and once I got used to having to concentrate on the screen due to subtitles, I found it very good.

Started season 2 a week back and on episode 5, I'm enjoying it still, but wouldn't say it's as good as 1. The plot seems to jump around more, but worth it though.

Purchased Season one before Christmas and then watched it whilst off (so much better than the mainstream Christmas telly).

    Very good indeed :-)

Now got Season 2 ready to go though, at the moment, rewatching Series one; there's some details we missed first viewing.

The 2008 film the series is based on is supposed to be very good as well - copy on the way.

Are there only 4 episodes? Some sites say 4 but Sky say 12?

    Either way can't wait :-)

Excellent, I didn’t expect it to be back so soon! The series hasn’t really dipped in quality thus far, so hopefully they continue their high standards.

Sky box set - it's one of my favourite TV programmes; Genny is a fascinating character and it's just so bleak at times...a lot more "authentic" feeling than some of the more glamorous crime series. And the music complements it perfectly.

Absolutely - it’s callous, grubby & brutal. And all the better for it.

I found the Season 3 episode where the disabled boy’s ‘civilian’ father was murdered to be personally particularly hard-hitting (as well as other plot developments over the series, but which I won’t mention & spoil for the uninitiated).

In a similar (but quite different, if that makes sense) way, ‘Romanzo Criminale’ is worth a watch too - set in the 1970’s & 80’s, as a gang tries to take over Rome. Not as gritty or relatable, but still good.

Excellent film alongside Suburra both well worth a watch if you like Italian crime if you have netflix then Suburra is on there both the original film and a two part netflix original series also there is an interview with the author of Gomorrah Roberto Savianno who still lives under Police protection.

Love this show, fantastic scripting, plot, and acting. Can't wait for the new season! Patrizia is a great character and Genny's arc has been fascinating to watch. Where will it go next???

I read on another forum that season 4 was disappointing, so I was not sure about watching season 4 (I watched the first 3 seasons last year and liked it) .

    Give it a go?

100% watch it. The quality was as good, if not better, than previous seasons. With some of the character changes at end of S3 I think many people went into this season expecting it to be materially worse and didn't have an open mind.

I absolutely loved it, it was different, had some superb character arcs, keeps you guessing, and isn't afraid to sacrifice beloved characters for the sake of the plot.

I'd read that, and it's interesting to hear that it is actually the case for other regions in Italy.

Just adds to the intrigue of the show - an insight to an insight, if you like.

Reminds me of 'The Wire' - no pandering to the viewer, make them work for it. Adds to the authenticity, for me - no dilution through compromise.

My Italian (Roman) friends say the same thing. They tell me it’s like Londoners trying to understand a broad Glaswegian accent. They use subtitles.

I watched all the series and I visit the Naples area a lot. I only speak a few words of Italian but even I can tell how differently some words are pronounced - the last consonant often missing, ‘ci’ becomes ‘sh’ etc.
