GREEN DIALED WATCHES - WHAT YOUR FAVOURITES ?

I've always had a thing for green watches ! the 2 that i've owned were a green steinhart ocean 1 and a rolex submariner hulk 116610LV which I recently sold

I'm looking to buy again , something green . whats your overall view of green faced watches ? Do you own any green watches and what would you like to buy ?

    thanks guys

Grand Seiko do lovely shades of green. The Alpinist is also very striking in the metal.

GREEN DIALED WATCHES - WHAT YOUR FAVOURITES ?

  9. #9
I had a green and "gold" Casio in the 80's while at school. I have nearly bought the Alpinist above many times, but each time I get close I think that I don't wear gold any more and it would just look out of place and not get worn. It does look very nice, though.

I like green and I have three:

First is the Magrette Dual Time purchased from this very forum, I like the (stating the obvious) dual time function, it's legibility, the sandwich dial, great lume, cushion style case and matt black PVD coting. A good all rounder.

I also have the brass Armida A8. One of my favourite watches, a great value diver that is my usual swim watch. The patina appears to have reached it's maximum now, which I'm quite happy with.

Last up is this quartz Seiko chrono, used for the gym and walking. I wasn't really looking for a green dial as such, more a tool watch that met my requirements, but when I saw this, it was like, 'yup, that'll do'.

Green dials are the work of the devil, equal to the abomination that is the California dial. A green California dial................. ;-)

Wearing my only green-dial watch today, and posted earlier in the Friday thread:

A quick and pretty crappy phone pic taken in the car this morning, as you can see, but this one has a really rather smart green dial, with nice sunburst finish.

Although I don't care much for green as a colour generally, I have a bit of a soft spot for this watch, and the LV Sub - not the Hulk - is the only Rolex I've ever really desired. I have the Steinhart Ocean One with green bezel, and think it's a corker - I'd keep it even if I acquired the Sub.

    I`ve been looking at these a lot recently and would buy if the right one comes up - this is probably enough green for me though;

The alpinist is a classic for me , brown strap just shows off the green dial to maximum effect

Another vote for the Alpinist. Such a reasonably priced watch and a classic to boot.

Indeed this one is lovely, at a fraction of the price of the Hulk and very much smarter.

Very subtle, but green it is, at least to my eyes.

The hulk I d say. Never liked green and especially green watches until I handled the LV. Totally changed my view instantly

HULK purely because of that subtle green that changes with every angle

Ooh never seen one of those before. I have the orange dial 700C and never realised Seiko produced a limited run green dial. Was this to commemorate something?

    Cheers

Not sure if this counts but it is green in certain lighting conditions. Had it years and quite a bit of sentimental value attached.

I don't know. The 7548's were produced from 1978 till 1985 and these teal green ones always come with a serial no. starting with 4D... including the one I have incoming from Japan

More turquoise really but it might pass as green at a push. My old Seiko 6139-7060 from 1975, a Japanese market only model with lovely colours, the dial and orange hands really popped.

    Cheers,

    I like the green Seahorse

I bought the black version a few weeks back, and today I received a Zuludiver Nato James Bond strap. That looks good!

I fancied something green but couldn't ever get past this. The legend in green........

Squale Master Ltd Edition; the applied bezel markers are dazzling or Tag Heuer 6000.

Sorry no pics as I don't have either of these two, perhaps someone else can chip in and show these two classics.

Green is a fairly unusual colour on vintage watches, here's an Omega Constellation of mine.

Iridescent dial, it goes from green to black in different lights.

    Cheers,
    Neil.
