A strap change and a story of innovation

First of all, apologies for posting this here as the strap sub forum seems to be acting up for me.
I got a new rubber strap for
My modded Sub 14060 and was unable to mount it as is often the case with these fitted rubber straps.
So, I took it to a local jeweler whom I use for such jobs I cannot handle- difficult bracelet removals, sizing Seiko bracelets etc.
He struggled for a while and then decided he needed a curved spring bar and took out a small set of steel spoons ( atleast that is what I assume they were )and proceeded to make the spring bar curved. Basically put the spring bar in the bigger spoon and pressed it with the back of the smaller spoon. Was surprised to see this and asked him if he kept theses spoons for this particular purpose and he was like-yes. I took a picture which bemused him.
Anyway, after adding the slight curve to the spring bars, he managed to get the strap
    on.

Some pics of his contraption and the final result.

Bending spring bars with two spoons came up in this recent thread. Risk of shortening them was mentioned, but obviously worked out all right in your case.

Mmm - Pretty 'special' looking spoons...

You sure he's a jeweller? Little spoons, measuring scales for very small weights?

The wife has a set of those, measuring spoons - she was a chef in an earlier life.

What happens Raj if you take the green strap off - do you have to straighten the spring bars or did you just buy additional ones so that you have straight and curved bars to cover both eventualities.

Your train of thought leads me to ponder the origin of your forum name - SNOWman...

Yeah, I also shared my opinion on this thread and I think as long as it fits snug and no play. Should be fine. I did it with my strap and no problem at all, I was looking at those ebay spring bars and some of the pictures seems like it was bent as well. That's the reason also why there is a tool called Curving forming spring bar. And if You worry that it shortens the length then buy a 21mm for a 20mm lugs and bend it.

Where did you get that strap from? To my knowledge Rubber B does not have green straps, and also this one looks like silicon not rubber. Is this silicon?

Only thing I don't like is it says Rubber B on the back while it is clearly not one but is good quality and supple.
The clasp is a replica Glidelock clasp.

Yes, you could describe those as such.
An obvious attempt to trick people into believing I own a Rubber B strap when obviously I can't.

WhenI bought one,I didn't know it is stamped Rubber B on the back.
As for the clasp, I looked for a non branded one but I couldn't find one.
So had to buy a $300 fake and take the clasp from it.
Strapcode is soon coming out with one soon, though.

Does it attract dust Mate? Common for silicone rubber, unless this isn't made of silicone

Not really. Wouldn't call it a dust magnet.
