Most of the dealers have watches going back 10, 15 or even 20 years, but go back much further and it is a very specialised field with relatively few trusted outlets.
Hello - what sort of vintage Rolex are you looking for? If its a bog standard 1970's Date Just then there are lots of dealers out there. If its a 60's Paul Newman Daytona or a Mil-spec Sub, then alas there are very few who are trusted.
The key message is do your homework and always buy the seller and their reputation - do that and you will not go far wrong.
Personally I would start with someone like Mike Wood (www.theoldwatchshop.com) - Mike is a member here along with a number of other dealers include Jed and Haywood.

Just looking for a 1500 oyster date or the like so not high end at all. Just something to get me into the world of Rolex watches really.
You might like to try to get a "five digit" model (15000, 15010 etc) as these have the 3035 calibre movement that brought the useful quick-set date change facility. The four digit 1500 / 1501 etc had the older 1570-badged 1575 calibre movements that did not. Fine movements, just less handy at the end of a short month.
Watch for sad bracelets on pieces of this age. Oysters can go on for decades but the Jubilees will be slacker than a fat man's pants by now.
Soft acrylic glasses are easily marked, but if you like the vintage feel and go in with your eyes open you should be okay. Expect to pay high teens, I suggest. Anything over £2k had better be special in some way, but more likely it will be over-priced.

There's a place in Bond Street London specialises in vintage roles sports models , literally 100s in there , I'll try and find out the name
It's in Burlington arcade , there's 2-3 places in there selling vintage Rolex models

This. Window shop by all means, but there are better sources to buy from.
Prices at that place in Burlington Arcade are way out from Chrono24, regional or even other London jewellers. It's a tourist trap, so unless you want to pay extra for the shop being in that arcade buy elsewhere. From browsing myself as soon as they twigged I knew a thing or two about specific models, straps being newer than the cases etc they went all cold. Had much better service as a potential buyer at practically every other watch shop I have been in.
Unless you want to be patronised and treated like you are a worthless human being, in which case that would be the ideal place.
