    Mac Question.

Is it possible to view digital photos which were burned on a PC (jpeg) to a Mac?

Or indeed RAW from a camera that was put on with a PC to a site and then be saved on a MAC with 'no trouble'?

    Thanks,

    Best wishes,
    AP. :)

my MacBook has proven to be the most reliable & robust 'laptop' I've ever had - and as a bonus it's also the lightest too.

    Good luck!

That's good to know and thanks Ralph.

It has been done... now the waiting begins-may the couriers be gentle with it, and as honest as the pure driven snow (which happens to be the same colour as the laptop, er sorry: 'Macbook (but less 'consumable' and more of a swallow))...

Lightest? Not according to Computing Which?'s latest notebook tests. Two Windows machines were lighter.
Bear in mind MacBooks are made by Asus (I think), who mostly make Windows laptops.

No problem. If you're using external hard drives, Macs will read NTFS but not write; Windows won't read or write Mac (HFS) formatted drives; both will read-write FAT32. This does not apply to CDs.

The Asus Eee isn't all that heavy, at about 2 pounds (less than 1kg). At dinner my wife and I had a disagreement about something and it was cool to be able to put it on the table and "google" the answer. :)

    Best wishes,
    Bob

gradually moved all the computers to Macs in this house.
I've been the last, inheriting my sons older g4...but its for photography that this kit really comes into its own.
We haven't yet bothered with Aperture, as the latest incarnation of iphoto (on ilife 08) is wonderful at editing, sorting, filing pictures.
I transferred all my 'PC' pics by cd with no bother. In fact on the high definition imac screens they look even better.
Then you get all the wonderful integration of using photos in the other software...
    A splendid move...

just as a ps, I bought a cheap card reader, which is much quicker at loading pics into the Mac's than plugging in my Nikon D70s.

I have a Toshiba Portege R100 (running Linux now, but XP originally) that weighs in at 1.1kg. I think that just pips the Sony TZ.

Played with a "EE" today at Micro Advika today. excellent idea for a holiday etc Ok no optical drive etc. Battery is about 2hours 40 mins etc. Good wifi and so small !!
excellent when used for what its been designed for . Use large mem sticks etc and you have a winner.

Thanks for the kind replies and advice. I'm going the lighter shade of the dark side ;)

I have most of the pics requried to be transferred burned on CD, so, in view of your experience(s) that should be not too great a drama!

As for the programmes, it will be a case of become used to them and 'their ways'.

    Best regards and thanks,

    AP. :)
