It's not ostentatious, it's 'standout'
Those subdials look really small and crowded up against that case. Odd proportions.
Where did I leave my Ronald McDonald shoes?

Good God! That would be a better fit to my thigh !!
With that "military" stencil font on the dial numerals it is about as camp as a Jamboree.
Sooooooo butch.

"Water-resistant to 100 m/330 ft and featuring a rotating bezel with rider tabs serving to memorize times"
I thought they had lost the plot a while ago, now I am sure...
Also that case looks like its made of polythene to me!!!
Only 'tough' people need apply! Breitlight - utter tosh. What is it actually,a composite or an alloy?
24hr face !! Tried that on a Bentley, and NEVER again :-(
What is it with these gigantic watches, other than body builders who have King Kong size arms? Bloody thing is unusable for most, it makes a Tuna look like a tiddly wink. Sorry I just don't get it!
My spider senses tell me that it doesn't 'revolutionize watchmaking' as much as Breitling's website suggests
Can't find anything about the case material on google. It looks like a resin/plastic/carbon thing in the photos, and 3.3x lighter than titanium suggests it too.
Breitling seem to be losing their way somewhat, unless there is a market out there that we are not aware of or just don't understand.
Also, it's six and a half grand!
There must be a market otherwise why would they be bothering?
Their last few offerings have been on the side of big and 'military', but fortunately they still make something for everybody.
As for a made up name to promote a new watch case material, well, they're not the first are they!
Flava Flav wears smaller things around his neck. 50mm is ridiculous
I remember when the membership of this forum would have taken a 50mm tool watch in its stride.
Nowadays, it's all about 37mm moon phase watches or some such...
;o)
50mm is a little bit silly.
The mottled effect on the case looks rather interesting.

That write up on the website is horrendous even by marketing-speak standards. In what way does it have more power than a 'normal' watch? They should probably rename it the closet-master.
irrelevant of actual size, it really suffers from the big case, small movement syndrome.
Also, is their new design team on loan from Invicta?
Fantastic looking watch but, 50mm ?? way too big even for my 8.5 inch wrist
All black - no Breitling Bling there.
I'm sure there's a market for this.
I'm not in that market though.
Have they been bought by LVMH? Thats the only explanation I can think of for their terrible models lately.
Breitlight too? What's not to like???
Why on earth would they build this new caliber at what appears a decent(ish) size and then put it in a 50mm case? Makes no sense to me.
But I imagine it's the same logic that would develop a material may for this watch that's over 3 times lighter than titanium... and then put it in a 50mm case!
Looks like a Special Ops watch.
Does it have a torch?
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Strap and movement are nice but that face is way too big and ugly.
Perhaps it's purely to show how light a wall clock can be.
Someone forgot to tell Breitling that 'the fad of big watches' is coming to an end.
Presumably it's made of carbon or somesuch because a piece of steel that size would be unwearable... What an absolute horror.
Ugh.
That thing is a disgrace, it looks like some `designer` POS from the cheap end of H Samuels shop window.
`Breitlight`?
`XXL Diamter`?
`Aviation-inspired stencil-type numerals`
`Military Rubber`?
Who are they trying to get to buy these watches - 6 year olds?
They`re not exactly promoting an image of quality goods that a `professional` would want to buy , are they?
I`ve always said that the Navitimer is the only Breitling one should consider, and with crap like this Hurricane being released it`s getting to the point of being embarrassed to be associated with them..
No, will let them be.
I can understand this look doesn't exactly go along with their ballerina shoes.
Btw, hands don't contain more testosterone than carried by blood elsewhere to the body, meaning same as in general circulation.
May be Breitling will make a similar watch in 36 mm that they can ooh and aah over.
FWIW, this is not a particularly attractive watch but will find its target audience.
50mm is certainly excessive but they are going for a certain look and a certain appeal here and is meant for a certain subgroup of Breitling fans of which not many would be found here.
I don't like it but refuse to get so vehemently offended or enraged by it. Atleast not enough to unleash the same old staid and by now, unfunny insults.
Who wrote that marketing copy or was it translated into english?
It immediately flaunts a standout 50mm diameter.
Is there a wrist-shot of this somewhere?
Breitling used to manufacture really beautiful and iconic watches. When I see this or the new 46mm Navitimer, I have to say that they've lost me.
Like any other company, they are trying to cater to market demands and I suppose their carefully created marketing image will make this watch very attractive for some. Many of their watches are everything but mainstream, but that doesn't mean that they don't have a large following.
BTW, black seems to be this season's colour..? https://www.instagram.com/breitlingnews/
Well, 15 years ago the Superocean was about the best dive watch available, according to Watch Time, a German print magazine way back when. It even took out an Aquatimer on the way. And the "original" 1984 (rather than 1952) Chronomat was well-liked and basically indestructible. Then there's the Aerospace. And the B1 has a cult following. But since the serious upsizing began in the early 2000s, with the advent of cheap credit, I've gradually lost interest as well. The current Navitimer is still very good, but oversized, and their dive watches are no longer fully-specified dive watches, if that's what you want to use them for. For most this doesn't make a difference, but for the fact that they used to be, once upon a time.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
