April 2014 the ad was.
Anyway, here's a picture of the 2 I had till I just sold the one on the right.

Simon cant recall where he got the one I have now from. Hardly blame him, I have enough trouble remembering what I was doing last week.
Hahahahaha!!!!

Watch and bracelet now reunited and rejoined the collection.

I'm not organised enough to remember to order things on a Tuesday morning - that's why I posted a WTB for either a black/grey or orange/grey one at the weekend. Fortunately someone PM'd shortly afterward with the offer of an unused orange one - theyre not back from holiday until Sat so I wont get it until early next week.
Just dug up my old thread from 2011 and mine was running -3 seconds after 6 months. Not checked it recently though...

I think that Perlon is a much better match for the watch than anything you've posted so far (with the exception of the bracelet); the rubber straps you've found are a bit fussy in my opinion. Another option would be to try one of the Cousins cheapie Omega-style calf leather straps in black.
I agree.
Its fun to experiment but I invariably end up with Perlon!
Whilst searching the internet earlier I came across these two NASA prototypes - auctioned by Christies in December 2015 the pair went for $47,500 (£38,624)

On the subject of bezels here is part of a post from my 186.004 thread on the Omega forum
This seems to be the most fragile part of remaining examples. I'm pleased that the crack in mine isn't getting worse but I guess that it will need attention at some point
Its probably a case of finding someone with the ability to fabricate a reasonable facsimile
So do I and that it is a quartz does not make it any less impressive AT ALL.
Quartz technology simply is more impressive time keeping technology.
The rc ones are almost mind boggling examples of scaling down horologic technology. I mean; there is a radio wave receiver in there with electronics to automatically reset the watch part.
Whether one LIKES it or not is beside the point.
I like this accurate Speedmaster a LOT!
Thanks for the additional posts.
This one without a working light just sold for £1447

I was following that one Dan
Seems a bit toppy - however good to see that these are now been acknowledged as important Speedmasters
Needs a service and a new crystal at least by the look of it - a Bienne service is going to be £400 - £600
The pushers on mine weren't as sticky as described on that one but they replaced them anyway
Original bracelet (with extra links) and box but no manual
Don't think I would have gone that high
Well,it certainly was exciting.
I think it's too bulky for the watch and the orange isn't a close enough match to the red text on the dial.
Your quite right gents - I tried wearing it for a while this afternoon and it neither felt nor looked quite right.
Still, hardly an expensive exercise.
Petrus - as you can see from page 1, I did have a GGB NASA Velcro though it didn't quite fit the case - I may try again with one but suspect that it night be a little too bulky. I am not too keen on the buckle part where the strap pulls through and folds back, theres a big gap. Anyway they are hardly expensive so I will probably end up trying one.
Next thing to try is a plain black TF NATO which I recall is slightly thinner than the orange/black one above - I have one on the way from SC.
For the time being its back on the black Eulit - which I fear has spoiled me as regards comfort.
The orange piping looked good in the carefully selected auction pic, but your own pics maybe showed up the real world is not so appealing when light conditions or angle are less than ideal.
The plain black nato with steel trimmings still looks good whatever the skills of the photographer (see post #102) and Perlon would suit that style too.
Look great John
The bezel looks in good order too - any cracks or deterioration?
Are you sending it to STS?
So 186.004 ownership on TZ currently looks like:
Gurmot (Simon)
Caruso (Dan)
Dickstar1977 (Tom)
Dr.f (John)
Velorum (ian)
and possibly?
