Kizzi make the best NASA style velcro watchbands IMO. Not cheap but very flexible and comfortable.

Not so sure; looks like he has changed his order system to ordering by email.

    GGB is closed temporarily btw.

Not sure - when you click on the photos it states that 'this product is sold out'

On another part of the site it makes reference to occasional closures in order to build stock levels up again

I think that GGB is open again tomorrow

On the NEWS section he writes that he is taking orders directly per mail.

Well, that is not a long wait :-)

Might look nice with red- it would match the quartz text on the dial.

Looking forward to the photos; hope it gets you the comfortable wearing space look.

    I'll drop him a mail about a 24mm.

Had a little space watch fun last night. My date took a photo of my Gagarin anniversary watch in front of the Yuri Gagarin Bar shield.

It was quite funny because our attention to the shield made passers by notice it and soon several were posing below it for a photo.

Well, as mentioned on page 1 of this thread I did attempt this last year but the strap didn't fit!

I did like the look though. From memory I think this was an 'Earthbound' one as opposed to an SPV2. Now that I have revisited the GGB website and looked at the drop down menus I am pretty sure I must have clicked on the wrong spring bar to spring bar measurement. The thing is that there isn't a menu choice for the 41mm that I have measured carefully with my digital callipers. I have gone for the nearest at 40mm but also added information in the text box. Ive also sent an email so hopefully all will be OK!

Ive also requested one of Carls upgrade buckles in order to avoid the big gap caused by the standard one. I went for an Omega logo variant.

How did you manage to order Ian??

I am still getting the messages that he is catching up.

Would like to try an SPV3 on the Astron GPS. That should also hook up so there is no strap running underneath the case.

Via forums is best I think

Even then, they are not going to be cheap!

I actually did buy a reasonably priced 186.0004 from e bay in the past but sometimes it can get very competitive so one can't always generalise from a single result. This rather goes against point I was making.

I wore mine to work yesterday and a couple of people commented on it - apart from the Pogue that's never really happened with any of my other watches.

People DO watch watches. Not with any intention but as one would 'see'. shoes, trousers, a ring etcetera. For the most part subconsciously. The unusual thus gets noticed. Some will make a remark. Depends on the situation whether you hook up with an entertaining fun story.

Carl emailed me about the NASA strap this morning - just to make sure I forwarded him pics of the s/b to s/b distance.

I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks Petrus, I think that the search for the strap that is just right for this particular watch is over.

Eddies black Nato is a close second though!

Just added this 186.0009 as a companion. Bought it for the movement as my 186.0004 loses 30 sec per day...but now - well you know the story!

The manual is original, but since the manual doesn't fit in the box I'm guessing the box isn't original?

I don't think that necessarily proves anything about the box. Although I have no special experience of Omega boxes and manuals, I do have some watches from the era of that one and the manuals do not fit in the box.

The box is definitely old, and I was thinking that maybe the box and manual were originally part of a bigger overall package. But likewise I have no experience of what would have been the original package back then.

I suppose the Apollo program was over by the time Omega built the Alaska LCDs so they were presumably destined for the shuttle?
