Thread: My first Panerai - new arrival.

  1. #1

My first Panerai - new arrival.

I have been thinking about getting a panerai for a while now and I'm pleased to say my first arrived last week. Absolutely delighted with it, it is everything I hoped for and more.

This is a 45mm radiomir pam00183, which is a model they have been producing for a good ten years I believe. I have a leaning to sports watches, so a luminor would have been the obvious choice. I decided however to go for the radiomir. Like I say, I'm a novice in the world of panerai but this seemed like a good place to start.

First impression was one of quality, it really does look and feel like a well made watch. Perhaps the most striking thing for me after years of SS sports watches was the comfort, it is absolutely the most comfortable watch I have ever worn.

Size works really well on my 7.25 wrist. I reckon I could also do the 47mm radiomir without issue, but this is perfect for me. I wanted to change the supplied strap to this one photod below, and it wasn't quite as easy as I was expecting. Lots of tape and squinting only to realise I shouldn't even attempt it without a proper screwdriver (thanks watchobsession).... So a steady hand and lots of tape and a new screwdriver and it all went well. Don't think I'll be needing to change again anytime soon as I really like this look.

Anyway, here are a couple of snaps......oh, and I've just taken the bins out and that lume is crazy!

Welcome to the PAM world and I wager you will have more than one strap this time next month.

The Rads are stunning and I hope to add one one day.

    Enjoy

183 is a beauty, was my second Panerai. Love its slimmer profile in comparison to the Luminor.

The nice thing about the 183 is that it doesn't feel as big as it is, and feels really nice on the wrist

Thanks for the positive comments guys, and yes I am looking for more straps already (don't know why as I'm happy with this one) I guess that's a side effect of Panerai ownership.

Like the Radiomir case shape but not fond of the wired lugs.
    Nice watch, congrats.

Very pretty watch, but be honest, in the photo doesn't it look too big, swamping the wrist? Maybe it's the photo.
    Certainly a handsome beast.

I can highly recommend Kostas straps. He makes all mine for me and never lets me down. The OEM Asso does look good on it though.

Here is my 232 on a Kostas!!

    Lovely!

Tried my first Panerai on the other day and instantly saw what the attraction was. Never understood it before, but after trying one on I now want one lol

    Congratulations.

I have a 183 as well and its become one of my favourite watches. You'll get used to the strap changing, its a bit fiddly at first. I've ended up spending a small fortune on straps for different occasions.

    Enjoy

I have always fancied a panerai but feel they are to big. I am aware they do a 40mm model but have get to see on in the flesh to try on.

Very nice, I love my Panerai.

It's not something I wear all the time but on the rare occasion I do I can't stop looking at it.

Thanks for that. Never heard of kostas straps, but they do look mighty fine.

Love the Radiomirs - they also wear smaller than their size would suggest.

    Congratulations on your purchase.
