Fascinating thread - kudos to the OP!

I got into a bit of a rut a while back and was really only wearing my Omega Seamaster, Sinn 103 or TH Monaco most days. First world problems, eh? However, another recent thread on here motivated me to tip out the contents of my watch drawers and really think about what I'm wearing. It's been a healthy exercise and I think a couple of pieces are now destined for SC.

In very general terms, I'll get up, get dressed and then poke around the collection to find something that works with what I'm wearing. Another member of the forum branded this behaviour 'effeminate' (I believe he meant that as a pejorative) but it works for me.

This. If I had to, I could be happy with just this. Suits so many strap options.

This, once I get it back from service. I feel it’s time to give the sports models a rest.

Its been all sorts...from various vintage omegas to a new Longines HC and then for the last 8 months a Rolex daytona. for the last month its been split between two vintage 80's seiko dress watches. I'm going through a phase of preferring 80's watches due to their petite dimensions, especially the ultra thin quartz that dominated in the era. Just so comfy and I like the art deco designs which were contrived at the time, particularly by seiko. I never claim to be consistent.

Things change depending on what section I'm working on a given day, but it predominantly a bond seamaster or not quite as often, a 16660 sea dweller.

I have spells up to 4-6 weeks when I wear the same watch, other times I change through the day.

Speedbird 1903 is my favourite go to but lacks lume.

    Sinn 556 perfect all rounder

Oris Carl Brashear for something different

Explorer II 1655 when I go caving ;)

Tudor North Flag when a splash of yellow is required

    Speedbird III GMT for travelling

  13. #113
For work it's always my G Shock. Outside of aork it's mostly been my Tudor Pelagos.

I have 14 watches that I wear in rotation, rarely if ever wearing the same watch two days running. So I don’t really ‘get’ the concept of a daily wearer...

You have to wonder about the logic of buying any more watches, as these have me covered:

    Quartz, who would have thought!

I’m hoping that this will have an outing at least weekly when it returns from service:

Speedy and Sub are in the box, but outings are rare.

For three and a half years this was my watch which got the most wear; for the last 18 months it's been the watch I wear most the time.

At 42mm diameter, 50mm lug to lug, it's at the limit of the range of sizes I wear, but as I'm so used to it, the size just feels like a nice reassuring presence. The excellent strap helps too, I'm sure.

During the day, it always has excellent readability; in the evening the subtle quality of the dial begins to shine out.

In order of frequency of wear currently it’s:

2254 > Aqua Terra > vintage Mark II speedy racing > Monaco. The others don’t get a look in but I’m sure that will change next week.

I don’t really have a daily as I like to chop and change with what I’m wearing / doing.

These two get worn the most often, probably as neither are a pristine safe queen, and I don't mind a knock or two on a tool watch. My work environment is a high risk area for a watch, and when not working buckling kids into car seats is even higher risk

The most versatile watch I've ever owned.

My speedy is my daily wearer for a couple of weeks and then I swap back to my Hulk, I rotate between the 2 but when I swap back to the Speedmaster it'll be on a different strap/bracelet

    2. Does the vast majority of your collection get worn regularly?
    1) varies wildly - a year ago it would have been a LIP Mach 2000 chrono... nowadays I find myself drawn to the Seiko SKX033 Pepsi 'mini sub'. Depends what I'm doing though - I regularly spend time mooching about construction sites (Crossrail next Weds, for example), & that's when the G-shock gets an outing.

    2) Absolutely not!!!

Wow, I really like that. Just had a look and you need to match certain criteria to buy one, is that correct?

No not at all, go to the website and contact the brand owner Don Cochran direct. Or PM me for his personal email. It’s been a great big warm welcome for me to the Vertex family.

16710 the daily wearer, then seem to alternate it with one of the others. Recently the pam since its arrival, prev was speedy.

Skx was my beater but think this needs to be replaced by a quartz as cba setting it just for the sake of a rare few hours work (just the reality I’ve found).

The CW Trident C60 Pro is my favourite day to day watch. I have a collection of around 10, but I alternate this with a Mondaine Stop2Go, a couple more CWs, and a Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer.

Couple of years later and I don't have the AT Quartz any more, felt a bit too chunky. Now its between the Rolex 15200 and IWC 3521, mostly the IWC but the Rolex has been given a run out in the past weeks.

This is my daily. So much so that I wonder whether it’s worth still keeping the 5 or is other watches in my box as they barely get worn at the moment

    1. Everything in my small collection gets a bit of wrist time. Day-to-day is suit and shirt so the Datejust or GMT get the most wrist time, Casio occasionally and the Speedy on a Tuesday (obviously).

    2. Each piece will get an outing at least once a fortnight!

Don't have one, the whole point of a large collection of watches is that I don't have a daily wearer. Today it's a Bullova, ,yesterday was an Ebel, Friday for dinner was a Breitling

It depends on what I'm doing as to what I wear.

    I currently have...

    Damasko DA46 - worn daily
    Sinn T2 - worn daily
M5600 G-shock - used daily for mainly the count-down timer function
Broadarrow PRS4 - worn mainly when doing 'jobs' when others may get knocked!
Speedmaster FOIS - worn on the rare occasion I'm wearing smarter clothes!
Fortis Cosmonaut - my only 'keeper' as wife bought it for me!
Omega 2231 titanium Seamaster - away for service - to be sold on return!
B42 Titanium chrono - may well be sold as not wearing it much

But I tend to put the DA46 on in the morning and swap to the T2 later in the day!

    Cheers

I tend to swap around but this is good for most days as a general wear .. like the perpetual calendar, the duel time zones, chrono and even an alarm.
