Thread: Any good New TV Series worth watching

  1. #5051
Watched the 3 episodes of MAXINE last night on Netflix.

It's the story about the tragic and horrible Soham Murders of two young girls in 2002

I would never want to say that it was entertaining, but it did highlight the dreadful mistakes that were made by all the partnership agencies.

Finally got to watch The last of us on Now. Very very good and hopefully a second series might come out in the near future.

I'm halfway through episode 5 and am enjoying it. Just had the rather shocking realization that Polly is played by Greta Scacchi.

I’m at the same point as you, can’t decide.

After the 10th trip to the office this year, I’m also very tired & not used to driving 20mins to the station & a 25mins train journey before 3mins to the office. First time driving in the dark too, bugger me I didn’t like that.

The new series of Frasier is shaping up to be a good one.

Opening scene of the first episode left me quite worried - really cheap gags, really annoying new characters, very very annoying (and very American) laugh-track. It recovered well though, Nicholas Lyndhurst makes a nice addition to the cast and its nice too see that Frasier hasn't lost any of his grandiose pomposity in the ultra woke 2020's.
It's never going to be a patch on the original Frasier but it's still great fun.

We destroyed that in about a week and regretted it, i hadnt realised just how short the series were. Seriously dark but seriously funny. I think most of us have a bit of Ray Shoesmith bottled up

We found the whole first episode quite worrying tbh but will out of love for the previous shows stick with it at least a couple more episodes.

Any good New TV Series worth watching

Netflix- Life on our planet. Quite fantastic
Thought provoking - especially the last episode.
Snippet of a line from Morgan Freeman…. It’s our intelligence that can save us.
Quite scary when you consider it that way.

Really enjoying the BBC series of Boiling Point.
It picks up from a few months after where the film of the same name left off.

It has been written and filmed in the same 'fly on the wall' style as the film, but now runs as 1hr long episodes (8 of them I think in total).

Again, like the film, it is a stressful but very engaging watch, so not particularly light hearted or relaxing but very addictive.

Thanks, saw the film but wasn’t sure on the spin-off.

Harris documentary is not as good, and again another childhood hero who was so wrong. FFS

Banged Up Channel Four, a real insight into our failing penal system. Be warned its brutally honest with few edits, maybe don't be eating your dinner while viewing!

  14. #5064
Polished off Bodies a couple of days ago. I *think* I really enjoyed it but fear the lack of clarity around one character means they have always planned for a series 2, which is frustrating as everything else was rounded of well. Sometimes a one off is all that's needed.
I love Stephen Graham usually but not wild about him in this, mainly because there was the odd fleck of Scouse in his London accent, which undermined the character a little.

Series two of Bosch Legacy is now on Amazon Prime - very enjoyable

Series two of Time is available on iPlayer - unlike the first series, it's set in a women's prison (but nothing like Prisoner Cell Block H!)

Dark Hearts on iPlayer is excellent - it's a six part series about French special forces in Iraq trying to locate the family of a high ranking ISIS official in order to get information

As ever, I'm late to the party, but I discovered The OA at the weekend and I'm really enjoying it, although I haven't got a clue what it's about even though I'm four episodes into the first season.

  23. #5073
We finished watching House of Usher over the weekend, very dark but still worth a watch.

  24. #5074
Just finished The Blue Eyed Samurai on Netflix.
Adult animation along the lines of Kill Bill. Recommended

    Season 3 Hammonds Workshop

    Season 1 Wednesday

What are you watching Hammond on? Can only seem to find I need a subscription to something I don’t have on prime, but have discovery on sky, so a little confused!

I got about 15 mins in and found it too American sensationalism and turned it off, didn’t get on with how it was delivered.

The trilogy of books are some of my all time favourites so I'm a bit nervous about the adaptation.

Oh cool! Liked the first series so pleased that there is another.

I know it’s now quite old but watched Berlin Station recently - mainly watched it for Mina Tander as developed a bit of a thing for her. Unfortunately she was dressed quite frumpily in the last season. Probably because she was so much hotter than the US ladies who were supposed to be the stars.

Yep, finished season 1 - dunno if that's the end or just the end of the first book as I haven't read them. It's well made with a biggish budget I suspect so pretty good overall - good cast with some seasoned actors: Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter and, of course, Rebecca Ferguson who is always easy on the eye. Not the best sci-fi series ever or particularly memorable, but I enjoyed it, with the slow reveal leading up to the denouement.

But I grew up watching him on TV and wanted to see what a Monster he was behind the camera.
    Made my skin crawl.
I saw this last week and yes, it was truly creepy but compelling to watch. I tried watching Louis Theroux Interviews Jimmy Savile afterwards but found it too strange to watch considering what we now know about him!
