Thread: Any good New TV Series worth watching

  1. #3451
Just finished watching Series 1 of The Nevers. Fairly interesting & rather different, I quite enjoyed it. Although the series Finale had us wondering if we were watching the same show.

I like Mare and Nevers, also the BBC were showing Tinker Tailor again, enjoying Alec Guinness ruminating on whom the mole might be... am hoping Smiley's People will be on next.

Wife's been watching "This is us" on Prime - halfway through S1, I happened to be in the room and it grabbed my attention - pretty good and a bit different to my usual preferences (hence why wife decided to watch on her own).

Glad you enjoyed it, I also finished off Season 4 this week - great series & looks like there will be more?
Just started watching City on a Hill & that also looks like it will be very good.

    Clarkson's Farm on Amazon.
Lupin on Netflix (French, don't know if it's on the UK's version of Netflix).
Bosch season 7 (and final season) on Amazon, starting on June 25th.

Any good New TV Series worth watching

‘sweet tooth’ on netflix, watched the first last night. Looks interesting and different.

Loki, Disney +, against 1st episode in and I must say it looks absolutely brilliant !

    Has Time been mentioned yet?
Gripping 3 parter from Jimmy McGovern about prison life.
If this doesn’t keep you on the right side of the law, nothing will.
Superb all round with great performances from Stephen Graham and Sean Bean .

Great spin to create space for the story to run. Really like the idea. Bit adjustment agency/MIB with a marvel twist. Love it

Great shout - didn't realise this was coming so soon.
Bosch was my go to series through lockdown - great show.
Sounds like they are also now filming a spin-off series with 3 of the main characters.

    Another upvote for Time.
The documentary about the Challenger Disaster on Netflix is also compelling.

Really enjoying the Patriot on Amazon, quite dry/funny and a bit of a Cohen bros vibe about it.

There is a definite dearth of good new series on any provider at the moment - presumably due to the pandemic shutting down a lot of production.

Hopefully we'll see some great stuff coming soon, as I've watched most of what appeals to me at the moment!
So clever my foot fell off.

I can't imagine many here watch this but I can't stop watching that weird dating show where they're all naked and the screen goes up bit by bit. It's like a car crash in slow motion every episode.

Also right after that the plastic surgery show "Botched" is on and it's another complete car crash that I just can't stop looking at.

I don’t think Hulu is available in the UK though. It may work with a VPN.

Hopefully Netflix or Amazon will pick this up.

To add to the thread we have just finished The Serpent which was excellent.

    Cheers, Shaun

Really enjoyed Serpent, I swear I felt some panic attacks in some scenes, it’s really gripping.

I've just binged the entire seven seasons of 'The Shield' on Amazon Prime.

Not a new series, but brilliantly written and acted. And as this review intimates, the last season was phenomenal.

Just in the process of watching season 3 of Dave Turin’ Lost Gold Mines. Not what I was expecting and very watchable. Anyone else watching?

(I haven’t seen the first two seasons).

I recommended Mad Men to a colleague a couple of months back and he’d come in most days talking about the episodes. Made me decide to rewatch from the beginning and it was even better second time round. It’s amazing the amount of things I’d not picked up on spread of the 7 years, that I did in a couple of months of binge watching. Probably my favourite show of all time.

the new american horror story spin off 'american horror stories' is worth a watch - its a short stories type spin off that has the original atmosphere that the series is known for.

I am pleased to see the return of the delightfully outrageous Jerk to the iPlayer for an all-too-short second series.

    Me too.

Watched “Without remorse” (movie, set in the same “world” where Greer’s niece is a SeAL)

Not a patch on Jack Ryan IMHO

I’m going to try to hunt down Patriot Games I think

Superb series, easily top 5 for me with top-notch writing, acting, directing & set/costume design.

The best shows - like Mad Men, The Sopranos & The Wire - are eminently enjoyable on a surface level, but even more so when the deeper themes around the human condition are explored.

I’ve just nailed season 2 of “dark summer” on Netflix. Zombie apocalypse kinda thing (where the zombies are quick and relentless) but more focussed on what happens when iciest breaks down and it’s every man for him/herself. Clearly shot with a COVID crew and in a budget but well done and quite brutal in parts.

I watched that. Other than the title it has nothing to do with the book.

Absolute pile of crap, very disappointing.

Patriot Games is in a completely different league.

Started to watch Treadstone on Amazon.

Based on the “Bourne” world, too many different threads and flashbacks. Given up after 5 episodes…. Anybody persevered?

Yep - we persevered. It was good enough, but not up to the Bourne films and not a patch on the books. A swing and a miss.
