Watched the first episode of When They See Us on Netflix last night and was very impressed. It’s the true story of the black kids wrongly accused of the rape and battery of a woman in Central Park in 1989, shocking and brutal stuff.

I've come to it late as well, only half way through Season 1.
Great stuff, I think its possibly better than breaking bad at times - that had some very slow episodes!

Formula 1 - Drive To Survive Season 2 just out

Better Call Saul Season 5 just out

Also recently watched the two seasons of Jack Ryan on Prime which I quite enjoyed although these aren’t new.

Thanks for the heads up. I've nearly finished re-watching Band Of Brothers, so that'll be next. Have they released all the episodes, or is it weekly?

Loved series 1, gave up after half an hour of episode 1 of series 2. Difficult to forget you are not watching 'Falcon' from Ironman and Kovacs instead (yes, they changed the actor).

I did the same, although I made it to halfway through ep2. I really enjoyed the first series, this one hasn't got the same vibe at all.

Really enjoyed, The Split a must for any of us who have suffered divorce. Its a sort of masochistic voyeurism, that's compels you to watch bad human behaviour even if you have suffered it. Great acting from Nichola Walker.

I was hoping it would be as good as season 1 but like you both, think this season isn't quite as good. I was hoping it would get better (has slightly) but still not in the same category as season 1 imo. Think I'm on episode 5 now.

I Am Not Ok With This.. watched it all yesterday and enjoyed it but it only really properly got going at the end. There are 7 episodes of just over 20 minutes each but needs much more

    Exactly!
I'm not huge F1 fan (endurance series are much more interesting), but the "backstage" shown here is really entertaining!

Hunters on Amazon Prime, Al Pacino leads a group of Nazi hunters in the 70's, with a Pulp Fiction/Tarantino vibe.

I got bored with F1 many years ago, but this has been great. Love getting the action, the background elements, and finally drivers swearing over the radio...should be like that all the time!

Only watched the first episode of S2 yesterday but is just as good as S1. The only negative is knowing how the story ends!

really I just watched 3 episodes and it didn't seem too bad to me, not compared to some.

Watched season 1 in one sitting and promised myself I’d be a bit more patient with season 2. Watched the Mercedes episode on friday night and the other 9 the next day. Great show perfectly put into perspective by Kimi’s quote at the end of the last episode (I won’t spoil it).

They change the actor as the body has changed (the sleeve), which is the same as in the books, he wears different sleeves at different points. I imagine if there is a season 3 there will be a new actor for that. I like that they kept that part the same, there are many other unfortunate changes though, still a decent watch IMO.

Thank you for posting that, it was a tough read and adds another level to the intensely emotive story that is The Virtues. Little wonder the min-series was so powerfully portrayed, I found the flashback scenes superbly done and especially chilling. We watched 'This is England' years ago but I need to go back and find Shanes earlier movies.

    Cheers

Just finished Hunters on Prime, with Al Pacino about Nazi hunters in 70’s New York. Has a Coen Brothers / Tarantino vibe to it.

Westworld season 3 is out. If you watch episode 1, don't bugger off to put the kettle on when the end credits start - there's a final scene afterwards.

Haven’t got there yet, still on series one. Saw the actors on The Last Leg and thought we’d give it a try. Haven’t stopped laughing though a single episode so far (4 episodes in).

Also not exactly new, but I've been watching some Laurel and Hardy on Amazon Prime. Should this be in the movies thread? I don't know. Anyway, turns out it really does hold up after all these years. Some genuinely timeless, very funny sketches, although a minority haven't aged quite as well.

  39. #2739
Will have to check out Laurel and Hardy. Loved watching them about 30 years ago.
Could do with some humour and nostalgia at the moment!!

Yep, I remember watching them at my gran's house when I was about 6.

My Godson of 6, who has Downs Syndrome, loves Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton, & Mr Bean. He doesn't communicate very much and seems to revel in the (almost) silent and very visual comedy of all of these.

I've also introduced him to Old Tom & Jerry cartoons, which he seems to love also.I just hope he doesn't try to re-enact any of the violence on his two Brothers ;)

I started watching this last night. Got hooked and four episodes later it was 1am!!

Normally, I don't like anything very Tarantino, but this is excellent and Al Pacino is the best I have ever seen him.

I recorded it, along with the finale of Season Two, which I watched last night. I'm glad I did - - it's been a year and a half since the last episode and I'd forgotten how it ended! Now I'm ready to watch the Season Three premiere.

Picard I thought to be average and to be fair still don't get the hype.
Treadstone is very good as is the latest (and last?) homeland.
Enjoyed Grand prix driver on prime but I like F 1 anyway.
Laughed a fair bit at the cartoon paradise PD
Watched the first show of Avenue 5 with Hugh Laurie as well and that may shape up to something reasonable.

I've read some great reviews of Natasha Lyonne's Russian Doll, which just premiered its second season on Netflix. I was about to dive into Season 1 but thought I'd see if any of you have seen it and have an opinion before I invest the time.

I watched season 1 a few months ago and found it to be a good watch. A little like Groundhog Day but with more twists and some interesting characters. Worth a few hours of your time
