    Dashlane-password manager alternative

Dashlane are hiking their price to Ł57 a year from my renewal in July

Are there any decent cheaper alternatives that anyone can recommend

Sent from my SM-A736B using TZ-UK mobile app

    i use bitwarden free, personal,
    pc mag review 5.0 Outstanding
    BOTTOM LINE
Bitwarden is simply the best app we've tested for free password management, while the paid version adds extra security and storage options at a low price.

Browser based though. So not ideal.

Excuse my ignorance but why is that an issue?

A few years ago I tried Dashlane. On installation, it was able to pull all my logins and passwords from the browser, even ones i'd long forgotten about. So the browser was somewhat less than secure.

Fair enough. I have to use dashlane for work and hate it.

Google works well for me on chrome browser and Pixel apps.

If Dashlane can 'pull' passwords from the browser, surely that's an issue with the browser, not Dashlane?

The other issue for browser based password management is that it’s not going to autofill passwords in apps on your iPhone. If there’s a better or cheaper option that will synch across all Apple devices and do apps as well as web, I’d be interested to know about it.

If you are 100% apple then iCloud Keychain is the best, especially with family password sharing.

If you use chrome then passwords.google.com is superb

If you mix and match then Bitwarden

It gets annoying when you use iCloud for apps but chrome for passwords and Bitwarden for catch all when iOS only allows two options for autofill

iCloud Keychain won’t store passwords for apps. It will fill in log-ins on Safari, but you’ll be stuck when an app asks for a password, or you want to generate one and store it at the same time. While it’s not always perfect, Dashlane can do that.

Step 1 - install Chrome on your iPhone
Step 2- move Safari to some dark forgotten folder to never see the light of day

    Job done, problem solved :-)

Seems to do so for me?

I get apps which are just web apps disguised as apps ultimately use safari and pretend they’re an app just like Pizza Hut/ domino’s and the like

But when open a bonafide iOS app like BA/Avios it logs me in correctly and after password resets asks if it should update the iCloud Keychain entry
