Saving Rings of Power for Christmas is paying off, in a totally epic way. And who can argue with a Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special (Disney)?

The traitors on BBC. Like most reality tv shows, the contestants seen unhinged, bursting into tears at the drop of a hat, good entertainment when they are ratting each other out when they get to the table at the end.

Traitors is excellent, needs a bit of work, need more of them socialising like Big Brother and less of the tasks, but yeah it's good

I finished this last night, dark and gritty but also very life afirming and as the previous poster said, very well crafted.

Watching the Recruit on Netflix. Surprisingly good. Offbeat Spy stuff.

Will give The English a go next based on the numerous recommendations.

    I loved Wednesday.

Troubled blood is brilliant as well, I do like the strike series.

I love anything From Margaret Attwood (apart from poetry-hate it) but the The Handmaids Tale although excellent is unrelentingly dark and dystopian.

Watched Traitors, glad to see the good guys won but some of them shouldn’t be let out on their own, laughed at the antics of the tasks no need for any more sitting about discussing how ‘X’ or ‘Y’ is “a million % loyal” drivel. IMHO of course.

Alice in Borderland season 2 is shaping up to be as good as the first, which is pleasing.

A Spy Among Friends. ITV. A new slant on the Philby story. +1 for Slow Horses.

Just binged ‘The Bear’ on Disney+ after missing out when it came out, and reading about it via an article. Brilliant, edgy US kitchen drama where they’ve tried to give an ‘Uncut Gems’ style unease/edge of chaos feel to it. Really portrays well the camaraderie and general insanity of a working kitchen, as a former kitchen porter I can testify. This and SAS Rogue Heroes my two series of 2022.

I'm watching Station 11 and I don't know what the hell is going on I think it's good though? Feels like lots of random pieces with time-hops, multiple characters, and even fever dreams, but it's all connected and building to a grand reveal. Hopefully!

Agreed, but watch it with subtitles, I'm convinced the dubbed version voice actors hadn't a clue what was happening, so inappropriate were the tone of voices at times.

The Peripheral on Amazon Prime was a good sci-fi binge watch to follow Rings of Power. This is the Westworld team working with considerably more coherent material, as it’s adapted from the William Gibson novel. So while the plot is fairly mind bending and you may need to focus, it does all come together satisfyingly in the end. It’s a bit easier follow than the book if anything, while still having that William Gibson quality of throwing you into a new world and letting you figure it out without too much hand holding. Fun to spot so many familiar London locations too.

    A few good ones

I agree with the post above: Station 11 is worth a watch, as is the Dark.
1883 is great - only a few episodes in, but I'm really enjoying it.
And while I'm talking about Paramount shows, King of Tulsa is building nicely and Let The Right One In is pretty good, even though it lacks the atmosphere of the original film.

Detectorists Christmas special. Still has that lovely summery feel, however they have injected a mall amount of tension and friction. Certainly a feel good watch

Watched Treason on Netflix - not bad but too many plot holes for my liking.

Also can't believe they didn't at least try to change Charlie Cox's appearance from "Matt Murdock" in Daredevil.

Really liked the entire premiere season of The Recruit just released on NetFlix. Brand new lawyer joins the legal staff at the CIA. What could go wrong?

7 episodes into Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and it’s hitting the spot with some well judged original series nostalgia. It looks lovely and there’s something pleasantly warm and cosy about it, just like the colourful 60s series. It’s on Paramount+ as an add on to Prime, with a 7 day free trial. Due to the holiday (and the holiday ‘flu) I suspect we may beat the challenge and make it through all ten episodes before the trial runs out!

Started watching Dopesick between Christmas and New Year all about hHow one company triggered one of the worst drug epidemics in American history

Although I thought it started slow it's really grown on me its a harrowing story

Michael Keaton is excellent as a doctor who becomes addicted to the drug that he prescribes

I think that’s the pre-prequal. Harrison Ford in in 1923?

A good yarn spun out over 5 episodes but as you rightly say plot lines you could drive a red bus through.

Anyone watched all of 1899 on Netflix?

I have just started episode 3 and beginning to lose interest, so wondering if it is worth sticking with it or not.

  50. #4400
Only just got Paramount + primarily to catch up on all we missed after the first 2 seasons of Yellowstone which we loved.

Seasons 3 & 4 of Yellowstone were excellent. Season 5 pretty good so far but I think they may be running low on original ideas for threats to the ranch.

We finished 1883 last night. Really good, but very sad at times.

    Next up is 1923.
