I am hugely enjoying Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2.

This is exactly what Star Trek should be and the best iteration since The Next Generation / DS9 in my opinion.
So clever my foot fell off.

Slight aside on perception; 30 years seems like a long time ago, but 1993 doesn't.
One of my favourites too, a classic thriller series. Only £4.99 on DVD, bargain.

It's quite a rollercoaster! I'm up to the third episode, enjoying it overall but struggling to keep up at times.

Just jumping back to The Bear - I finished it last night. Holy s**t, what a stressful watch it is. An odd show, a mix of humour and drama, not exactly high drama but it somehow made me feel every little setback in my f**king soul. Brilliant character development, you'll hate most of the characters in many ways but if you don't love them like family by the end then you're dead inside (I'm mostly talking about Richie here but it goes for a lot of them). Loved it.

Was really looking forward to season 2 of Good Omens after enjoying S1, but found it a bit average to be honest

Two fantastic Polish detectives, Adam Kruk and Klangor. Didn’t know they made quality TV stuff in Poland.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

New to me an absolutely first class Cold War spy series.

The last episode of series one is an absolute shocker of a story,I wont spoil it by saying more.

Yes, it's excellent. Carlton-Browne kindly lent me his DVD box set after mentioning it here, and my parents are now enjoying it as well.

It’s true what the say though, the TV holy trinity is Sopranos, the Wire and Breaking bad.

Finally finished it for the first time and found the last episode a real disappointment. Like the writer couldn’t be arsed to finish it. Loose ends aren’t clever, am peeved it was that poor. Oh well.

Felt as though there was a writer strike for the last episode.

Now on series 3 it just gets better the more you understand it.

The CIA in Russia was another surprise episode, with a touch of humour as well.

Just finished ‘Painkiller’ on Netflix, a
Docu drama on the OxyContin epidemic in the USA, blimey, what a story, horrendous, and the last 15 minutes will rock you silly.
    Cheers..

Surprised to see so many positive reviews for 'Wolf'.

I tried it for about 20 minutes and honestly thought it was a Steve Pemberton style parody. Now wondering if I need to give it another go.

It was documentaries like that which made me go cold turkey on pain meds after a bike accident. I’d been on them a bit long. Very scary stuff, will give it a watch.

4 episodes in and would recommend it; however I was reluctant to watch it at first because I'd seen Dopesick (so thought though I'd really enjoyed it, I knew the story), however this has a different perspective and has been really good so far.

The Sackler family have a lot to answer for!

I found it unwatchable so didn't progress past episode one and despite a good review in The Guardian, I'm not going to give it another go.

In contrast, I found The Sixth Commandment on iPlayer very good - excellent performances all round and a very creepy central character. Sadly based on a true story.

I need to watch this next.

If you liked it I think you will also like this Podcast. Very entertaining but tragic as well.

Hijack's good. Right up until the ridiculous ending, when they clean forget they have a 1st Officer on board who's qualified to land the plane and so let a gibbering, semi-hyserical murderer do it instead.

Astrid: Murder in Paris is excellent. A police drama about a female cop and a criminal records librarian with autism and a fascination for puzzles. As well as the intriguing crimes, there is a really good/uplifting exploration of difference and friendship. It's on More4

Painkiller, whilst telling the same story as Dopesick, seems to be written for a more sensationalist entertainment angle with larger than life depictations of the main protagonists. Dopesick came across as a more of a dramatisation of events.

In any case, both series are based off the excellent Empire of Pain book by Patrick Keefe which is even more shocking when reading about the Sackler family!

Couldn't get into Strange New Worlds.
The singing episode and the cartoon episode were just too weird.

It was reported today that due to the proceeds of crime legislation, Ben Field (the murderer) has had to sell the flat he purchased with his ill gotten gains.

As recommended above, The Sixth Commandment on BBC is pretty good and well worth a watch.

Chilling to think it was based on real life crime(s) - one which I had never heard of before.

    Enjoyed Lioness: Special Ops
Also enjoying The Clearing (Disney +)
But disappointed to learn the the conclusion of Yellowstone has been delayed until at least November due to the writers strike. I imagine it won’t be the only show effected.

I am loving Retro electro workshop on UKTV Play.

The main protagonist Rob Howard takes on repairs including, an old valve radio, an Atari games console, Sinclair C5 etc.

He has an old time workshop, drives a BMC 1100 and wears a brown overall coat - brilliant!

Just got round to watching the Detectorists and what a joy of a programme. A programme only the U.K. could make.

Superbly acted by Mr Jones and Mr Crook, their banter comes across as natural with gentle humour as well as some laugh out loud moments plus a little sprinkling of pathos!

    Wonderful.

    Wonderful.
Similar vibe to the Gone Fishing programmes, great to watch in front of a fire with a glass of wine or beer.

(Gone Fishing returns with a new series on 3rd September by the way).

On the topic of over-subscribing OxyContin, I’d also recommend The Pharmacist on Netflix.
