Does anyone know a reputable website to buy a seiko

Wary of buying of eBay and amazon....

Does anyone know an online retailer who has good after sales support?

    Watch shop.com don't stock 009s...

    Any ideas?

There are two well-priced answers, www.creationwatches.com and www.skywatches.com.sg but after-sales support will be zero.

You could go to www.yorkshirewatches.co.uk but you'll pay a lot more.

Personally, I've bought more from creation and sky than I care to remember and never had a single issue.

Being slightly cautious in general, when I was looking to buy new watch from that neck of the woods, I picked Skywatches over Creation. I probably paid slightly more for the additional reassurance, but that was what I wanted.

Creations range is better though, I believe.

I bought an skx007 recently through www.watchwarehouse.co.uk. Fast delivery and good service so I'd recommend them. And I've just seen they're offering 10-15% discount on purchases in the pre-xmas sales!

    I hope you've read their T&Cs.

They're not official Seiko agents, but resellers.

    Creation Watches

I've bought from Creation and didn't have a problem, lots cheaper than the UK.

A noob around here but I'd give another nod to Creations. I've bought a watch from Creations once and even got a personal message from Jason(owner?) regarding the authenticity of their watches. My watch came in a generic gift box to my surprise and disappointment. I missed the part about the generic gift box they send with the watch to certain line of watches they sell. I sent them a message immediately and complained about the order. Jason gave me a refund for the price of the generic box they normally would sell even though it was my fault for missing the deal regarding the box. I still don't know why Creations just doesn't send the original manufacturer's box, perhaps to save some on shipping and passing the savings to the customer. Anyway, the watch I bought was genuine and I was very happy after all is said and done. It was a rather inexpensive watch anyway but I'd buy from Creations again. Just my .02.

Amazon is a reputable website from my experience to buy. Another one is LongIslandWatch.

Skywatches acheives this by giving you the option of whether you have the original manufacturer's box sent to you, or just the watch with its hangtag and warranty.

Did it come with the manufacturer's hangtag though?

Probably because they don't have the correct Seiko box for every watch. As I wrote above, they are resellers & may not buy the watch with the box.

That's also why some watches don't have manufacturers' warranties, but a Creation one.

What are the various possible reasons for a Seiko making its way onto the market without a box or warranty?

Only problem with buying from Creation or Skywatches is they're in Singapore - Returning a watch is an expensive experience!

I've bought a couple of Seiko 5s from Creation (both now 55 Fathom mods) without problem, but I'd be reticent to buy a much more expensive watch from them, just because of the potential hassle/cost of returning a watch with a fault.

I assumed the lack of a box was due to the cost of shipping. Both my 5s came in official Seiko packaging.

I suppose they could, in the eBay classic mould, be "lost in a house move".

I don't know where Creation source their watches, but their Seikos are 'grey market' as they are not authorised dealers.

Perhaps they buy bankrupt stock, returns or samples.

Perhaps ADs sell to them without the papers & boxes, in order to mask what they're doing.

Anybody buying from Creation should check their T&Cs.

They are in Prague, but don't be put off - the have a "bricks and mortar" shop and a huge online stock. They also get things not available from ADs in the UK (Like the MM300 I bought from them), and you get the full Euro warranty of 2 years, rather than 1 year if you sourced directly from Japan.

I had an excellent experience buying with them, although bank transfer from UK into local currency or Dollars affects the costs (albeit only a little).

Another vote for Yorkshire watches. Maybe not the cheapest out there but excellent customer service and good choice.

Sorry, didn't see you bought one already. A wonky serial, what is that?

Don't know of any replica 009's, bit stupid if there were, as only the Wis-es seem to like them.

The serial number is slightly wonky, one of the numbers is slightly higher than the rest?

    It's a 100 quid Seiko, not a 5000 quid Rolex 😉. Can you post a photo?

Go to Google images & search for SKX009 caseback. The numbers aren't always straight.

Nothing to worry about. You don't get a Seiko warranty because they're not an official dealer.

Ah ok! Why is that? Does that mean that it's not an official seiko? Or is it because it is re-sold stock?
