James Martin wearing the gold Daytona with green dial (John Mayer one) on cooking show.
He doesn't seem to have much trouble getting his stuff.

Most of the TV people who do shows where hands/wrist are shown throughout have no difficulty (Repair Shop is another). Seems product placement is alive and well.

Wasn’t his watch supplier friend done for tax evasion? (A Rolex dealer on the Isle of Wight)
    Or am I imagining it?

Yep Invicta and Fortis on display regularly on the repair shop…
One of the furniture repairers wears an IWC MK of some type and one of the electronic specialists wears a Seiko Gen 2

It’s an Invicta. Not a Rolex. On close ups you can see the seconds hand has the winged balance.

The clock guy - Steve wears a Fortis

Brands like Rolex have no need to do “product placement” (as a paid for below the line marketing spend) as they have a) appointed Brand Ambassador’s for Rolex and/or b) folks who buy and wear their own Rolex on TV/the Stage/Big screen etc.

I never suggested there was any payment involved, rather (relatively) easier access to them.

Fair enough Chris, but your quoted phrase of “product placement” is paid for commercial activity. And yes I’d agree with your access point completely.

The woman to whom you're referring is Clare Smyth, a highly successful chef and restaurateur. She has three Michelin stars which makes her far more successful and talented than you.

Sadly this isn't your first display here of casual sexism, racism and homophobia, none of which are appreciated.

He was wearing a Batman last week too. I don't imagine he gets any special deals but I can imagine he gets good access, it's a beneficial relationship both ways. The AD get the kudos of selling a watch they know will get millions of views on national TV and he gets the hard to find watches.

Same as the influencers who get access to limited edition cars, I might pay the same money for a GT3 but I don't have millions of people watching me buy it and drive it.

In this case I made a mistake and thought you were making an unpleasant reference to Ms. Smyth. I apologise for that.

However you'll understand my position as you've previously been called out for referring to Covid as "Chinky flu." How about you apologising for that.

James Martin is a bona-fide watch enthusiast, keeps and wears his watches and as such I'd imagine would be a perfect customer profile for Rolex and I suspect a VIP with his AD which would perhaps explain why he gets those models. I suspect he had to wait for that green dial Daytona but his wait was shorter than most due to his status with the AD.

James Martin spice grinder for sale in the Caribbean, if this isn’t product placement I don’t know what is. (This is a photo of the box we saw in the store).

He is a brand ambassador for Rolex.

He's not on the website with the other ambassadors but I did see this along with a TZ thread from 2014 asking if he was an ambassador

It’s funny that he seems to only em wear Rolex watches - does that make him a watch enthusiast?

In fairness to JM I have seen him wearing Omega (orange PO) Chopard (MM- he entered the race) Breitling (Navitimer - he is a pilot) as well as Rolex.
I think he does like watches in general but one brand, especially in gold floats his boat.

Watched Die Hard in the cinema last week, and noticed that FBI agent Johnson wears a lovely white gold Rolex Day Date (presumably a 18239, given the year of the film):

Apology from the 'Porridge wog' accepted.
I apologise for calling covid the 'chinky flu' as many other journalists did, in humour.

NB: 'porridge wog' colloquial term of endearment for Scottish Gentlemen, especially in the field of rugger.

In 'Peacemaker', a Suicide Squad spin-off and possibly the most politically-incorrect series on TV, Clemson Murn wears a Yema LED.

No idea if the dealer was his mate or not but I think the dealer was Daren Wray? or maybe Wright?

I was gutted when he got done, I was literally days away from taking a ferry over to grab an AP15400 just as it came on top!

Yes mate, Darren Reay was the guy. Sold a lot of “cheap” AP’s until HMRC nabbed him.
