A Lucky Soul gets his grail : warning - lots of pix!

Well, I finally have it - my grail that is! [ Sorry all, photobucket has lost my photos!]

[There's been much discussion of what a grail is - for me, it is a watch I have wanted for quite a while; which I see as my main horological object of desire - given that it is financially attainable; and which has taken some time and mental debate to select, decide that I could - and should - buy and, finally, acquire. /// The Holy Grail would be the ultimate one lusted after but unattainable - probably one of many wonderful De Bethunes for me.]

So, if you will excuse some quick photos, what is it?

    First the tease :-

    Then, the hint :-

And now, here it is, nested in its inner box :-

    and then, stripped bare :-

Yay - its an ALS 1815 Up/Down in Rose Gold! And, to celebrate, here's some more quicky eye-candy pix for anyone who got this far!

Thanks for your indulgence - I'm a happy chappy now!

I still can't figure it out. Why is there no hand on the right subdial?

Stunning watch. Can you explain the left hand sub dial for thickies like me.

I got my grail watch in April this year, so I know how you are feeling. No flipping in 3 months time.

The left hand sub-dial is the Up/Down bit (or, in German - heh, I'm learning a language - Auf/Ab) - the power reserve indicator. It has a 72 hour Power Reserve at the Auf point, falling of course into the Empty/Warning red region towards the Ab point. And, no, this one is for good!

The movement decoration is beautiful. Stunning watch

But I'm still confused about the missing seconds hand on that pic? Where did it go?

Poor light - 20 second exposure time for that pic!

I can see a shadow at around the 50 mark on the right sub-dial which is I think the seconds hand in motion (slow shutter speed).

Nice one ! Rose gold is a favourite of mine.

Far more appealing than yet another steel diver/chrono with a black dial.

A very nice watch indeed- pure class.
In terms of watch brands I've always thought A.Lange just about top of the tree-
anyone who buys one of their watches obviously knows their stuff and has good taste-
and are not simply buying it 'to look after it for the next generation'.

Congratulations - what a beautiful watch.

As DB9yeti said, that truly belongs in the category of possible grails.

May I also add my congratulations :)

To get one's grail is always a dream come true. But add the fact that it is a Lange & Sohne is something extra :)))

IMO, L&S are most certainly at or very near the top of the tree and maybe higher than Patek.

    Congratulations, once again
