New Arrival from Japan! My first ever Grand Seiko!!!!

I have just received my first ever Grand Seiko and this I am honestly taken back by its beauty.

Despite being Japanese, i have always been slightly skeptical with all the reports regarding its case finishing, the hands etc. I knew they were top class but frankly some were even comparing them to top brands and I was skeptical.

    I am no longer skeptical.

    Some basic specs:

Model Number: SBGA125 limited Edition of 1000
Case: High Intensity Titanium (Seiko proprietary)
    Size: 40mm, 12.8mm thickness.
    WR: 100M
    Weight: 100G
Accuracy: ±1 per day (±15 seconds per month)
    Magnetic Resistance: 4800 A/m (60 gauss)

    Some photos:

The case design is based on the "Historical Collection 62GS" http://www.grand-seiko.com/collection/62gs/ The first Grand Seiko automatic watch created in 1967.

I really love the case design, its very angular with multiple facets. The polishing is the famous Zaratsu method making the angles reflect.

Needless to say, I love the watch!! Super light and comfortable too :)

Keep looks at the grand Seikos, which dealer did you source it from?

  21. #21
    Well done.

    That Zaratsu polishing is fantastic.

My sister who works in Japan sourced it from me direct from Seiko! Dunno how she did it....

    Amazing dial- really quite special.

And hello from the other end of Hornsey Rd.

Superb. There is no better watch for a Japanese gentleman. Or any gentleman really, but in this case it particularly suits you. Surprised it took you so long

I've owned 5 GS models and they have all been top notch. When it comes to dial and hands they are the best in the business. Congrats on a great choice!

    Nice purchase, congrats.

Is the dials' finish textured or more like metallic flake? and is it gloss or matt?

Its like matte but with shiny gloss, hard to describe....

Thanks for all the comments!! The springdrive is addictive just to look at and I keep looking at the hands and case finishing. It really is superb. It is a keeper for sure as my sister went great lengths to get it for me :)

I was recently on the fence with GS, until a friend of mine picked up a SBGM021. After looking at the finishing etc I'm a convert, excellent watches and wonderfully made. They also have hilarious cartoons in the manuals.

That looks rather lovely and a good size too.

I made the mistake of clicking on the link you posted and noticed they do the same model with a blue dial... I'm a bit of a sucker for a blue dial ...

If you purchase any watch form outside the EU there will be import fees.

Looks exquisitely finished but unfortunately not much oomph for me.
To me it looks a little plain and lacking in character but I am in minority here.
    Enjoy it.

hahaha ofcourse everyone is entitled to their opinions! For me that is whats great. To the average person it will look like a plain old cheapo seiko. That is the effect I want :) But look closely and you will see that this is no ordinary seiko! I love that it flies literally under the radar.

Import from non-EU countries and VAT will be 20%. Add import fees on top of that, which depend on the country you're importing from.

Me too mate, i agree entirely

It doesn't shout at you but it just works, everything about the design is just right (in my eyes) and they feel incredible in the wrist

    Enjoy
