SOTC 2015 with a slight Seiko warning

    Here it goes again.
A lot has happened since the last update here:

    http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...-and-a-dilemma

Interesting to see that the last thing written in that thread actually became a fact not just long ago...

My initial fascination with chronographs has not ended, but has been restrained a bit...

    SBGC007, Grand Seiko chrono

    SDAA005 Seiko Izul

    5717-8090 as the oldie

Finally the odd bird Omega Seamaster 2297.80.00

Now I do have a beater also, although it's in quite a good shape yet, Seiko SKX011J

And one that always tells the time properly adjusted Seiko Astron SAST009.

Divers have been in and out of my collection but the only one still standing is (except for the beater) my Seiko 6105-8110.

Unfortunately it nearly died in a pressure test accident today, so it's going back to the watchmaker.

All right, then we only have the casual work day watches left. My Grand Seiko 3-handers.

    SBGV009 high accuracy Quartz.

    SBGW047 manual wind.

    SBGH005 Hi-beat automatic.

And finally my latest arrival the blue faced SBGA127 spring Drive.

My interest in movements should lead to a few more GS purchases for next year. If all is good.

Cheers! And thanks for reading :)

    Nice collection.
These Seikos, I can live with.
Was keeping my fingers crossed as I was scrolling down that the great collection was not going to be marred by a Monster or a Sumo!😜

Wow that asymmetrical SBGC007 is just plain cool. Love the big crown & pushers especially. 6105 is a beauty too!

Fantastic collection, love the manual wind GS and I've never seen a Seamaster like that before.

My question is, however, why does GrandS turn up in every thread apart from the very one he should be in?

    Thanks guys!
No monster, I think the SKX is quite enough.
The 6105 tragedy is really hurting me, I hope it will be almost as nice as it was before the explosion...

    Thanks!
Maybe he's just late for work?

Another cool combo of the SMP chrono is the rose gold/titanium/tantalum version IMHO.

That's a lot of Seiko goodness! Seiko really are hard to beat in any price point. I could see myself turning into a Seikoholic as well...

Thanks Klockodile !! - Just as it seemed I could at last leave watches alone, you have to go and remind me:

    - Just how impressive and desirable those spring drive chronographs really are.
    - Just how much charisma a 6105-8110 carries.
    - That I really should have bought a blue dialled GS Quartz instead of a black one.
    - That there is the perfect Seiko for every setting and mood.
    - That I'm not quite done yet.

    Thanks A Lot!

    Cracking Collection.

Like that astron, never fancied it when seen on sales posts but on the wrist it looks much nicer.
Are the indices a bit 3d?

The thing is that they've polished the hands depending on what function they have.
The ordinary hour and minute hands are edgy and have matte middle areas. The chrono hands are silky matte. And the sub second and power reserve are shiny. Just wonderful to behold. Glad you appreciate it!

It's a really nice watch with a very deep dial and indeed 3d indices. They are very distinctive.
Unfortunately not a very good investment for me but hey, that's life :)

My interest in movements should lead to a few more GS purchases for next year. If all is good.

Cheers! And thanks for reading :)
Great collection you'd assembled there :)
Would you share real time experience from the SBGA127?

I may be going on a road trip to see one next week. Never really liked blue dials but something about this watch really speaks to me.... Crying out to go see it :)

All I can say is that it's probably the most comfortable GS I've ever had on my wrist. Great precision, beautifully finished movement and a blue dial that is not strikingly blue. It leaves hints of blue, and in the perfect light it kind of explodes in a warm colour.

SBGA127 feels better, although the quartz is smaller. Not saying that the Sbgv is uncomfortable...and one big difference, I have only worn the Sbgv on leather...

Well the Hi-beat is really nice and the Omega odd bird is an old teenage crush that I had hunted for some time before I found it in the right condition...
