TF Natos - just bought new batch - marvelous!

As much as I love Perlon, a change is nice sometimes.

The TF Nato supplied with my PRS29a reminded me of how good these are so I ordered some more

Compared to something like a Phoenix G10 these are outstanding value for money - everything about them is superior

I do find that tucking the extra bit under both keepers is a very tight squeeze though due to the thickness of the material - however they are fine like this

Perhaps I am in the minority but I really dislike the newer hardware. I don't care for the fancy keepers and I snagged and damaged a rather expensive blanket with the flared buckle. I stocked up and have almost a dozen of the old style straps (the best ever IMO) because I won't be buying anymore of the new style.

I've the grey and black version of these. They are nice thickness and love the finish on the keepers.

But there is one thing I don't like. There are too many holes punched into the strap.

The grey looks lighter in colour than I had thought - it seems lighter than the Phoenix grey. Might give one a go.

I’m undecided on hole spacing for these. 5 mm gives you less chance of being between holes. 7 mm gives you enough room to make a hole yourself.

I don't think it is lighter per se but the coarser texture certainly reflects light more than the Phoenix. Out of bright light it looks darker. The photo was taken in bright sunlight. The photo shows the TF strap and 3 Phoenix Admiralty gray straps made between about 2007 and 2012. The 2012 strap is on the top and the 2 older ones are on the bottom.

    Yes, its a 3510

I loved it on a Hirsch and liked it on its bracelet but since putting it on the grey NATO Ive not wanted to put it back on the other two.

Thanks for that and the useful comparison photo. I see what you mean - the actual shade is quite similar. I’ve grown to like the grey of the Phoenix. The webbing has a harsh crispness to it which looks smart when new but isn’t just as comfortable as some other brands. I’ll give one of this new batch of TFs a go in due course.

If only they did them in brown. Seems I'm a minority though.

I like the quality of TF straps, but I don't like Natos. It would be great to see a US type one-piece without all the extra bits.

Just cut the extra bit off, I have with most of mine, eg......

It's not just the flap, it's all the extra buckles and the folding over the end bit that bugs me. The US type has a standard buckle and fixed nylon keeper. Very simple, but just as functional.

I'd like one of those if they were ever made. Just a nylon one piece with a buckle that's the same length as a 2 piece without the origami on the outside of the wrist.

    Anyway.
Just to add that I bought one of the black tf natos and right up there for comfort and quality.
    Grey next.

That grey's lovely. Seems like a no brainer purchase.

Just treated my PRS-5 on one of Eddie's new two piece deployant nylon straps. The 5 is quite a deep watch which rules out normal NATO's for me. The new nylon is super thick and the deployant finish is a very good match for the bead blasted 5. Bargain price too.

I have just received my first TF Nato.
I won't be buying from ebay again!
