    Well, cows aren't tanned.

    The more obvious retort might be: "you walk in the rain don't you?"

    As long as you oil/wax/protect leather, it's fine in water…

    I don't get why water will damage the strap, I have never have some problems with that.

    Just out of interest do you shower with the strap daily, is it a Toshi strap? I've always taken mine off. I understand a bit of water isn't going to harm it but I always thought it best to keep it away from water if possible. Maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily
