    On days like these......

Being a child of the sixties, this has been one of my all time favourite film scores. Tomorrow I drive the GSBP for the first time. I truly cannot wait.

Your link doesn't work, but if it's what I think it is, beware of tunnels. And earth-moving equipment.

Awesome film, and the wife and I often have the CD soundtrack on in the car. We've been known to beep appropriately during "Self Preservation Society" which confuses the hell out of all the other road users!

And 1960s two-seat Lamborghinis. Unless you're already deformed and deaf. And have a death wish if you want to drive any faster than 60mph.

Weren't the trashed super cars just shells in the film - swopped before they were bulldozed over the cliff.

A Lancia Flaminia convertible went over the cliff, I believe when they went to recover it the next day they couldn't find it!

I remember seeing that film during a Saturday afternoon matinee at the local cinema not long after it came out. Back then kids could go to the cinema on their own without fear. I still enjoy watching it even to this day.

It was actually a Lambo and but indeed lost the next day. See Octane #143.

You're correct and the DB4 was a dressed up Flaminia.

A film with no faults in my opinion

I'm so fond of it that I've completely avoided the remake as I don't want the images I have in my head to be tainted........

I have it on DVD - think I'll watch it this afternoon

The "remake" is not really a remake, it is its own film.

Names and mini's and gold are shared, but style, panache and Benny Hill are not.....

I watched a few minutes of the remake and, as far as I could see it was a Hollywood style movie with none of the original charm or comedy. I never watched the rest and really don't plan to ever do so. The original Italian Job was the sort of movie, sorry film, that the folks in LA will never really comprehend.

I haven't seen the remake, do they manage to get 3 BMW Mini's in the back of a single decker bus?

It's probably my favourite film. The starting sequence combining Matt M and that sound... amazing.

as a kid I remember seeing supercars fly over cliffs and crash and burn only to see the camera zoom into the wreck and see leafsprings where mcphersons should be...
made my OCD go bananas.... then later on in life realised they couldn't and shouldn't trash a classic....
