    I've got a 17c a 22 and a 82.

Love them all in their own way but the Prs82 is my favourite, its just right.

    Smiths Everest

I've just taken 'delivery' of a Smiths Everest and even though it still has all the stickers on it there is already a story to why I've put 'delivery' like this.

One of my colleagues has been asking for ages for advice for a watch for her boyfriend for around £250, so I've been showing her various pieces either new or on Sales Corner, which have variously been frowned on and discounted.

At the weekend I remembered the Everest and showed her Eddies website.
She immediately loved the Everest and bought one for her idiot at home who not only opened the package when it arrived yesterday - which wasn't addressed to him but thats another story - but immediately decided he didn't like it and wants a quartz chrono.

So I've bought it from her less than 24hours since it arrived here in Nottingham.

The idiot at home clearly doesn't have any taste and deserves whatever cheap pile of poo he now gets.

His loss then. At work we call them Askholes. Someone who constantly asks for advice, but does the opposite of what you tell them.

Sometimes it works out ok.. I got one of my colleagues interested in watches last month, he saw my PRS18A and bought a Q for himself then went mad and bought a Seiko Gen2,an issued CWC diver and a SKX173 off me. Hi Dave! He's better at finding cool watches than me now.

I'm not keen on the idea of you sharing this information on an open forum to be fair. I know it's not like you've given away his address, or real name, or phone number or anything, but even where he lives, and his ISP is his personal information.

You have all kinds of private information about me at your disposal, and I had always assumed it would be confidential no matter what.

Most of us share where we live. My ISP is BT. My bank is Metro bank and my toothpaste is Ultra Bright. Not that anyone gives a monkeys.

This guy was posting misinformation and trolling for the sake of it. Not only that but he's been doing it elsewhere.

I'm happy that Eddie will research idiots like Tim to protect the integrity of his forum for upstanding non-trolling members like you and I.

As a technology idiot could you explain to me what’s the concern over someone’s ISP being known?
(IIRC the person in question has already volunteered where he lives).

    I can't I'm afraid, because I'm a technology idiot too.

I'm sure that my technical ignorance in combination with my paranoia probably means my view on this will be different to most people's.

I would also add, in case anyone goes mental here, that I'm not alleging anyone has done anything "wrong". I understand most people will likely have no issue with Eddie sharing this information, and I have no idea whether or not he's entitled to. For instance, I have not done any research at all into whether this sort of thing would be considered personal data under the data protection act.

But regardless, I'd like to go on record and say that I would prefer it if the administrators of this forum (both at present and whoever that might be in the future) would keep private any information about me which they have access to, which I have not chosen to share publicly myself, whatever anyone else's view of its significance might be.

Don't worry SK, Tim is using a VPN:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_private_network

    as Eddie noted.

As such, Eddie knows about the same as we do as his IP address will be randomised across the wide area net of his (special) service provider. It's a fairly standard move for someone who sets out to troll as it means that, once banned he can just sock puppet back repeatedly, which he will probably do if he finds us entertaining enough. Frankly, like certain other piles of internet inadequacy, the poor little kid has utterly underestimated our massive ability to troll ourselves, and anyone else, more effectively than any non watch owner could.

Especially one who clearly has no idea what this is:

Even if the point above were not that case, the bottom line is that if a watch is good enough to stake you life on, it's good enough,
brands don't matter, doing what it says on the tin does. Eddie's watches do. Every time.

    whatever specification they are following:

and they look as good as they wear:

In total I think I have eight of Eddie's watches and have got an enormous amount of pleasure from them. So if he Tim wants an argument about the quiddity of Eddie's watches, I'm here for him...

IP addresses are not private information. Whilst it might not be obvious, if you are accessing the Internet then you are sharing your IP address with anyone and anything you access. For example, you can see the IP addresses of everyone currently online at TZ-UK right here: http://forum.tz-uk.com/online.php.

Similarly, if you send an email via some webmail providers (the kinds of service by which most people nowadays access their email) then it is common practice for the webmail provider to embed your IP address in the header of any email you send.

Whilst Eddie could hide the page above and webmail providers need not embed senders' IP addresses in sent email, the fact remains that IP addresses just aren't private due to the way that the Internet works.

It should also be noted that from an IP address, again using publicly available information, you can find the ISP (or other service provider such as VPN provider) that the person uses and possibly where in geographical terms (with varying degrees of accuracy) they are connecting from.

So, Eddie really didn't give away anything that was private.

If you prefer not to have your 'home' IP address divulged, then you should connect to services via a VPN. This will hide your original, real IP address. Similarly, it will hide all the other information than can be inferred or found via your real IP address.

    Currently have:
Speedbird III - arrived last week; stunning
PRS 18A (used to be my favourite until it was ousted by SBIII)
PRS 82 - looks good, wears terribly on my weird-shaped wrists.
CAF & PRS 29A (both 'borrowed' by my dad!)

Really love the look of the '68, but I think it's just a shade too big for me.

  24. #224
I have the Speedbird III and the 82 just can't stop loving the 82.

    PRS-6

Since the my last post here the PRS-53 and a PRS-6 have been bought and arrived from the United States, thank you very much forum member Mike who provided an superb service and communication during the sale.

They are both excellent watches and I really like the utilitarian/military style. Currently wearing the PRS-6 and will swop for the PRS-53 next week. The discipline of winding every morning is something I will need to get use to!

    I have a PRS-37 but have previously owned and then moved on one each of PRS-3 / PRS-17C / PRS-18 / PRS-25 / PRS-68.

First came to this site back in 2008 having heard mention of the Speedbird on a non-watch forum (I owned a CWC GS2000 and a Quartz Seamaster in those days) - might order a Speedbird for my birthday in March (only taken 8 years to make that decision but the latest model with the new dial looks better than ever). Actually the '37 and my Seiko military have awoken my interest in this style of watch (originally never understood why the '37 was a quartz but the unique movement has convinced me).

My first purchase was a Zeno Army(?) diver as the PRS-14 was out of stock ... would still like to try one of those but never quick enough when they become available (tempted by the Omega original re-issue on SC this week, is it still there?)

A secret world of 'Eddie' followers. To me, as a complete newcomer, it all seems very confusing. Why so many models, why are so many unobtainable? Why not just make more, and a smaller range?
Well, it clearly works judging from this thread, so there's something interesting going on. Prices seem very fair indeed. Some nice styles too.

PRS 18q, courtesy of Seikopath, who put it up as a prize for the Nepal disaster relief fund. I've got it on a bead blasted super engineer from Strapcode, which is a good look, if heavy on the wrist, but also looks great on an isofrane-type from Obris Morgan.

I like it and wear it a lot, although both watch and bracelet are picking up marks - bead-blasted finishes aren't all that practical!
