Very nice. Out of interest, what markings are on the inside of the caseback?
Well it's taken a few years to find the right one and at last I have a Mark 11 a 1951 Hooked 7. Like a few other hooked 7's ive seen it has no case markings but Luckily I know the seller really well and it was his fathers watch and he owned from when he was on the services. I would love to find a marked back for it but I'm happy with its history and the case back does check out with other similar hooked 7 watches. I think there must be a reason so I love a bit of digging.
The sellers dad did end up with Boac do there might be a connection there?
A few pictures taken on my iPhone I'll try and take some better ones later.

That is delightful.
I would describe you as a lucky man, but only partially; as I doubt that luck had anything to do with getting your sticky mitts on the watch! Best of luck in your search for the information on the caseback.
Aw, that is lovely.

A Mk XI, that's my own absolute grail as well and one I'll never have. I do have a XII though which is at least a close relation.
Lovely watch and congrats on your grail. Well done for all that hard work.
Lovely find. I have one similar as my beater. Enjoy it
Congrats nice catch
Looks good. I too have one of those, and a mkX. Currently chasing a JLC mkX1.

IWC sold 70 pieces to "Garrard London", who supplied the British military, in November 1958 with movement numbers from 1384231 to 1384300 without case back markings. This doesn't explain why yours has none though. I do seem to remember reading something about BOAC pilots having them though. I'll have to do some more digging.
I may be wrong but I thought the BOAC ones didn't have a broadarrow on the dial?
There's a whole long thread from a few years back on the IWC Collectors forum about just such a watch. I'm slowly getting through it.
Congrats on your hooked seven, a pity no markings on the caseback, I hope you're lucky and find one ;-)
Here are my three, Mk 10,11,12 !

that is a lovely watch, one we would all like to own.
do you think the case back has been made sterile or changed?
I cant see how stores would issue them without a serial number?
Very nice indeed!
sweet!
Makes me wish I hadn't sold my IWC mark 11!
That is lovely
