A very good question, to which an answer may not be forthcoming

I had one of those in another life. Gave it to my Brother who then lent it to someone and that's the last we saw of it.

Well I hope you took a limb as compensation?

davide, I recognize all but one of yours (except the pocket watches), the one below the Omega 53? Is it a Longines?

Hi Alphafloor - yes, here's a closer picture. Are the white dials of yours mainly ATPs?

I am unaware of the reason that prompted the above remark but hope to clarify the situation.

Unfortunately I am not independently wealthy this means I am in the position of having to work for a living.

My business has taken me to many overseas countries and many varied locations and have not worked at home for over 20years.

My contributions to forums is not great for various reasons

    Lack of time

Where I can HELP I will

When I have an opinion I usually keep it to myself.

    Regards

IanD - Thanks for the clarification on exactly what you have there.

To collect that many watches must have taken you quite some time!

Any chance of some closer pictures of the 6B/159 collection?

Many thanks Ian, I had no idea so many makers made 6B/159s - I was only aware of Omega, Longines and (I think?) JLC.

IanD Thank you for those pictures. You really have some fantastic watches.

    I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there were seven manufacturers of the 6B/159;

    Omega
    Longines
    JLC
    LeCoultre
    Movado
    Cyma
    Ebel

I do like the Longines (both)

    Thanks

It was his pictures of the Dirty Dozen that started me on the slippery slope. I'm currently trying to ignore the voices telling me to collect 6B's. :x

Martyn, lovely pics of some fantastic watches! You have inspired me to start searching again for an old Seamaster!

My military watch collection is biased towards divers. I have one very rare piece coming in October, otherwise this is how it looks. I hate group photos and did take one, but it's too damned wide. So I'm posting by country groups. Not pictured is a Suunto Vector issued to an operator and gifted to me for services rendered.

    Here are my UKers:

    The Americans:

    Ze Germans:

    and Israel/France/Czechoslovakia:

Future directions? Precista, Sinn EZM-1/2, RAN Certina, Heuer Bund chrono, and of course a RN Sub are all on the list. Dunno if I'll ever be able to afford the Rolex, but it's on the list.

If this isn't too crude a question, what's the average price for the different WWWs? I presume it varies by manufacturer?

    Varies massively with manufacturer and quality of the watch. A rough guide to what I have found for good examples;

    Buren - £150
    Cyma - £180
    Eterna - £300
Grana - Anything, if you can find one! ~£2000
    JLC - £500
    Lemania - £250
    Longines - £600
    IWC - £1500
    Omega - £350
    Record - £150
    Timor - £150
    Vertex - £150

Definitely not to be used as a concise guide. You also have differences with dial variations, so a IWC NATO dialed watch will probably cost you more for example.

    Dan

    Very nice collections, gents!

I'm back to a dial-up connection temporarily - so no pics, but you can view my mil collection here. AFIK, I have all the Stocker & Yale model numbers (unless you happen to have a P550 to sell me?). Also a very clean Marathon-Gallet; the rest are fairly common.

    Super collections..

Now this is what I would call a thread.
    One of the best ever.
Thanks for posting so much valuable information and images.

Here's my previous collection - now all sold apart from one GSTP watch

A Heuer Bund, Laco B-uhr & Kadlec compass, Lemania single button, JLC WWW, Omega RAF,
    and several GSTP watches.

    Gone, I'm afraid.
