I watched a video ages ago on Grand Seiko's aesthetics, the watchmaker was highly skilled and stated that a Grand Seiko must look beautiful in all light and this is only possible if the components when being hand finished/made also look beautiful but for that to happen the person making those parts have to want it to be beautiful too.

They have the craft nailed over at the micro artist studio at Seiko for sure.
