Great post. Excellent pictures and description of a classic watch. Thanks for giving me yet another watch to admire.
New Arrival - Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Automatic E875.
The model produced in the years 1970-1981 in the amount of 7731 pieces in four versions: steel with a blue dial, steel with silver-cream dial, steel with two-tone blue and cream-colored dial, gold with a gold dial.
Watch visually very balanced. The width of 37mm, 42mm L2L, between the ears 18mm.The case finished with alternating planes brushed and polished. Plastic glass.
Beautiful dial with SJ sun changes color depending on the light from gray-blue to deep dark-blue. Harmonious spread accents on the dial: the logo on 9, Date at 3, the name of the manufactory for 12 and 6 model name.
Applied indexes.
Two crowns signed by JL . The top dial is used to set the internal clock, bottom to set the time.
Inside is ticking already legendary caliber automatic 916. This is the first fully automatic rotor in Memovoxach where, unlike in bumpers, can perform a full rotation of 360 degrees. This is achieved in such a way that the plug is positioned centrally on the inner surface of the lid and the deposit of the watch includes an opening located in the middle of the bearing rotor :)
This caliber, among others, therefore it replaced the earlier 825. Another modification was to increase the frequency of 21600 to 28800, which was nicknamed "Speed Beat".
Sorry for the fuzz and my English ...
Greetings from Poland !

Very nice! Can't beat a Memovox :)
I do like the applied JL at 9 o'clock.
Great pictures :)
That's a really really nice vintage memovox. How does the alarm sound on the older ones?
Yes that's a great picture
congratulations that's a really nice piece........
Thank-you for the superb pics & congrats to a JLC classic!
That's a real beauty and in fabulous condition. Good find and thanks for posting, particularly with all of the extra information .

Very very nice indeed - congratulations!
Lovely. I picked up the latest version going through T5 a few weeks ago.
That is pure class, love it!
Pictures aren't enough, I want to hear how it sounds!
Not suprised, i've worn mine in bed a few times to see if it would actually wake me up in the morning and my OH has to me she can feel the vibration in the matress when the alarm has gone off
Love the sound of them, Do the vintage ones as "school bell" like as the the newer ones, are do they buzz a bit more?
This a wee video of mine, not fully wound mind, so it's not you don't get the full song.
Wish I had filmed the "alarm off" I had vs a Zenith Doublematic and a Tudor Advisor, that was a bit of fun, the JLC won on all fronts, volume, sound and alarm time :)
What a beautiful watch; that's one of the nicest dial colours I've ever seen, and I love the logo at 9 o'clock.
I love a Memovox and this one is no different. Beautiful.
That is very beautiful and in excellent condition also! The whole watch looks very well-designed.
The calibre 915 and (your excellent photographs of) the 916 highlight how relatively crude the earlier versions of the Memovox were.
It's a mystery why they fetch high prices now.

That blue dial is simply stunning... Congrats on your purchase
One of the most iconic watches ever, from one of the best makers, with inhouse movement, and in a decent sized case. The mystery here is why you think it's mystery. It's a mystery why they fetch high prices now.
Please read again what I wrote:

Now let me explain it to you:
'The calibres 915 and (the photographs by primabaleron - the OP - of) the 916 (which is the calibre in his JLC) show how unsophisticated the movements (the 8 series, I believe) of previous Memovoxes were.
It's a mystery why they - the relatively unsophisticated (earlier 8 series) - fetch high prices now, because they are crude in comparison to the OP's lovely 916.'
Absolutely stunning. Great photos. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the explanation of the rotor fixing, a work colleague has this watch,
It has had a very hard life. We couldn't fathom the black epoxy like plug on the case back,
thought it was a bodged repair of old. Now I know, cheers.
It is a lovely, lovely watch you have, enjoy.
I have modern deep sea Memovox, but if could go back in time I would save a ton of money and get a great vintage memovox- love them, great choice
That's a gorgeous timepiece. I have a modern Master Memovox that I love but the vintage ones are really special too.
Great watch and nice write up.
Really nice example. Congrats!
Very nice indeed
Really nice, I like the strap as well.
Out of interest, can anyone explain what about the 8 series movements makes them so much less appealing?
fantastic watch, it looks great for its age
I absolutely love this watch and the alarm complication is fantastic. Yet another to add to my WTB list.
Since seeing this I have visited the web but am yet to find anything as beautiful as this example. Superb.
I hate to bring money into this but what price range are we talking about?
