Well done guys. Apparently it's the new Superb estate being released this autumn and if it looks anything like that I will be getting one.

I guessed Soda also. They are improving year in year. Not sure I am ready to by one but that looks great.

It's clever the way both Seat and Skoda seem to follow the Audi design cue rather than the VW design.

Back end looks a bit like a Vauxhall.

I didn't spot the wheels either but thought it was from the VAG stable - there were too many styling cue giveaways.

Like the way Skoda have taken their models further up the market and are now probably closer to VW/Audi than ever before, leaving SEAT as the poor relative in the family, though they are also not that far behind now either. Intrigued to know what the VAG marketing men have up their sleeves for the future of these brands.

I know that VAG now price Skoda above Seat. If you look at the Toledo/Rapid, they are essentially the same car, but the Rapid is the more expensive but with less kit.

So... the question is: why do people buy an Audi?

I usually keep my cars for 10 years, meaning I wouldn't be replacing my current Skoda Superb for another 5 years, but this might make me reconsider.

Not so much these days. A lot more people have them on contract and just give them back and get another one.

It looks very dull, I imagine they'll sell lots of them in dark grey.

Dull? Really? If it does look like that I think it will be one of the best looking estates on the market.

I suspect it will be an extremely good estate car but good looking? I don't think I've had enough alcohol for this conversation.

Good residual value makes the payments lower, that's the principle of PCP (contract)

Let's be honest, nobody buys skoda because they're better, it's because they're (perceived to be) cheaper.

If a skoda is £300 a month and an Audi is £300 based on a higher GFV, which one would YOU buy?

Back in 2002 I bought a new Fabia for my wife. A while after the warranty expired when it went in for a service I got a call from the dealer to say that the head gasket had gone and needed replacing. I wasn't happy as it had been serviced regularly and had done low mileage. The dealer suggested I phone Skoda customer services which I did not expecting to get much joy. They said they would look into it and call me back which they did within a couple of hours. They agreed to do the work free of charge even though it was out of warrenty.

I was very pleased with the great service I got and to be honest the Skoda dealers were always great.

Maybe this is part of the reason why they keep winning awards.

Interesting that you should say this. Just this week I popped into Cardiff Audi to look at an A6 as a possible replacement for my next taxi, but I'm not going to bother because in my game the things that matter, room, boot size, economy, running costs, etc, the Superb is way ahead of the Audi. So my next car will indeed be a Superb estate.

I think it's the Skoda Superber.

Last time I looked, you could get a decent spec Superb for the price of a run of the mill Golf. If they continue that pricing strategy, there will be a long waiting list for these, now they don't look really ugly.

I would have said Audi, based on the front lights & wheels, but couldn't believe how similar it looked to that Jag. Either way don't most cars now look the same from the outside?

The VAG is certainly at the front of the field in my opinion. Wait until the new Audi's hit the market this year and next, your gonna see some top of the line tech and beautiful styling. The new RS4 is simply unreal !

I must say, me being of a certain age, that I found it hard to even look at skoda seriously, this being down to the fact I am of a certain age and also the fact we took the piss out of them In the 70's and 80's. We all know the jokes....

But I must admit I do look at them very differently now and only in the last 1-2 years. Still would buy audi over skoda but I'm not laughing at the brand any more. Far from it. This is one nice motor for sure!
