    Powdered Vapour Disposition

Is apparently, according to the "watchmakers watchmaker" industry expert on the vostok europe special on ideal world (QVC alike) right now, what PVD stands for

    Peripheral Vascular Disease

    Lost in translation?

Physical Vapor Deposition - This actually covers a range of vacuum deposition methods, some of which, may involve using powder as the material source. Basically you get the coating source hot in a near vacuum so it evaporates then it will condense out over the target item.

    Some of the methods:
    Cathodic arc Deposition
    Electron Beam PVD
    Evaporative Deposition
    Pulsed laser Deposition
    Sputter Deposition

There is also Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) which results in a similar type coating, but uses chemical reactions to deposit the coating. (DLC is a CVD coating.)
