    Casual Watch for £500 or under

    Hi all,

    Looking for some suggestions for a casual wear watch for around £500 or lower. Don't have any specific requirements, just that it needs to be something that you can wear with jeans/t shirt etc.

    Thanks!

    Predictable but I'm loving the PRS18 which is available brand new from our host at well within budget. Choice of automatic (18A) or quartz movement (18Q). If you are desperate to spend more check out the PRS82. I am fighting the urge to get an 82 myself.

    +1 You can't beat the Smiths Everest, it's amazing for the money... But keep it on the bracelet. ;)

    I know you don't have any strong preferences but any thoughts on even slight preferences for;

    - Automatic / Manual Wind / Quartz movement ?
    - Sports or Dress ?

    Theres a heap of stuff out there...

    Just a comment also, I notice theres a big gulf from watches that cost say under £300 to over £1500. It seems to be a big zone where one goes from Japanese to Swiss movements.

    I would add to the recommendation above for the Seiko SARB017 also there's lots of well priced choices at www.steinhart.de and if nothing grabs you there then try a Seiko Sumo, available in blue or black.
    Here's the blue or Blumo !

    So many suggestions already! Thanks guys. Liking the look of the PRS20 and the Laco so far.

    TimeThoughts - I'm ideally looking for a sporty watch. Wouldn't want a dress watch for the occasions I'd be wearing it for.

    Of course this is very subjective stuff but if I took the top of your budget and if I said I wanted a swiss movmt automatic sports watch I would pick one of these 2 (which are a smidge over £500);

    Its just over the edge of your budget by a few quid, and you would have to hunt to purchase online but the Glycine Combat would be the 'best' sports type watch I reckon for the pricepoint.

    I reckon its one of the best Sub Homages.

    The other watch I saw recently that seriously impressed me was the Chris Ward C11; looks like a better proportioned Bell & Ross;

    Good luck

    With a little hunting (a great pleasure in itself) and a little patience you should be able to pick up a Damasko DA36 or 37 for your budget. I prefer the latter on leather myself, looks good on any Nato too.....

    That C.Ward is really nice.

    Just spotted a brand new one on eBay, starting bid £299... Tempting.

    Wow, that CWard is very very nice! Definitely jumped to the top of the list so far!

    This is another one that I'm considering, although I'm not sure if the glare from the glass will hide much of the detail I like in the face

    I'm a big fan of Christopher ward watches, don't think they have a watch in their collection I don't like and they are all resonably priced.

    Already got one, looks very similar to the Welder one I've got so I've kind of talked myself out of that one!

    That Chris Ward one though.. mmmmm

    Halios Tropik SS, looks good on bracelet or can be sporty in leather

    Steinhart OVM, looks pretty badass on vintage leather

    I'll second that, or a Chris Ward C11 for a more contemporary look.
