    Hamilton...

Hey guys, in the market for another watch and the last few days Ive been looking at Hamilton.. Their website really dont say much, so I thought Id ask you...
Anyone have/had any? What is the general thoughts about this watchbrand?

  2. #2
They are from the Omega house, so use ETA movements and are generally decent watched. I owned a Lord Hamilton and really enjoyed the watch which had a 7750 movement. Only gripe was the bracelets were connected with pins rather than screws, but that is what you get at the price point. Certina are from the same house, so check them out as well.

Finally, do not pay list, 20% minimum discount should be achievable, however I would buy secondhand and save more.

Thanks! Exactly the type of answer I was looking for.
Actually I am choosing between a Certina Ds Action or a Hamilton Navy Khaki..
So quality of a Hamilton would be like a Certina?

My current favourite watch (I'm wearing it as I type) is my Hamilton Kahki Pilot auto which I've had for a few weeks now. I don't have any "top quality" watch brands in my collection, mainly Tissot, Seiko and Orient, but the Hamilton is above any of them in terms of quality. In my opinion at least.

Great input :) I know some friends that are really happy with their Seiko and Orient, so this sounds like good news. I really like the appearence of Hamilton watches, gonna sit down after dinner and send some emails :)

Edit: where can I find list prices?
    Im looking at ReferensH78615135 and

I used to own a Khaki Air Race GMT... was pretty decent watch and I wouldn't hesitate having another.

Only downside was that the crystal was quite reflective, but apart from that, no gripes.

    Hi
I have a nice late 80's Intramatic dress watch which although I've had over 25 years I'm just starting to appreciate it. In fact I took it to Vegas last year because my SMP was with Omega and whilst trying on a PO in the Venetian the salesman remarked on it, I know they do that anyway but he seemed genuinely interested.
I have my eye on a Pan Europe which like most Hamilton's seems good value.

IMHO Hamilton are fantastic quality for the money. That year I have owned a Khaki Sub Navy Quartz and a Certina DS Action Quartz, both decent watches but I preferred the Hamilton. However my beater for the last year has been a Khaki Field and I have arranged to buy a Khaki Navy Pioneer for my 40th so I may be biased!

Hamilton house and eta movement from omega if memory serves me right and are good value for money. Under rated in my opinion.

Hamilton are a really good entry point to this illness. A friend of mine bought his on a trip to NY in the glory days when it was $2 to the pound and on that side of the pond a 50% discount seemed to be there just for the asking; in the light of this I'm not sure I'd buy a new one at RRP.

The model number is H78719553. It also converts to a small desk clock in a gimballed case, in the style of a classic marine chronometer. Mine is No. 1140 of a limited edition of 1892. A couple more shots:

That looks fantastic. Do you mind me asking where you got the BOR bracelet from?

I have always liked the Pan Europ but the lack of a bracelet option has put me off.

I love the khaki field available in quartz, auto and my favourite hand wind, have yet to see one in the flesh but I fancy a 38mm.

I adore this watch but can't pull off a 46mm case on my wrist. Although it does make a great clock too! Luckily the non LE version is 40mm.

I also have this Khaki Field:

i am a big fan of Hamilton. Most of their models appeal and the prices are sensible.

    Very understated brand and watches.

This is discontinued Limited Edition GMT.

I bought it, sold, then bought again. And sold.

Hamilton is another horse in the Omega stable, not a front runner but a good runner nevertheless. My son's Hamilton Jazz Master has been a consistent runner over the years.

    As for the extended metaphor...sorry...

I have a couple of Hamilton khaki field watches both 38mm, quartz and hand wind both have become my grab and go watches at the moment. They are just so comfortable and feel perfect on my 7.5inch wrist, I am starting to appreciate the smaller watch.
Really like the look of the khaki Pioneer chronograph which may be my next purchase.

I have the Khaki Field Auto. I opted for the 38mm for my tiny wrist. Looks perfect on the bracelet or even a little bond nato. The brown leather strap they produce for the watch is fantastic and I've intended to order one from them for months now.
Great watch for the price, haven't tried any of their others but have heard great things from friends.
