    Isofrane v Standard Rubber

The image vinstink posted on his sales thread for his 18Q on Isofrane has put the thought in my head of trying it on a rubber strap.

Eddie has a standard rubber strap for £15 which I have seen on the 18Q and it looks good. What is so special about an Isofrane and is it worth the premium over a standard rubber strap?

    Please educate me!!!

In my opinion you cant beat the isofrane, but some good suggestions on this thread:

Also, this is the 18Q on Eddies Retro Rubber:

Thanks Vinnie, I did see that image from Mario a while back which also tempted me. May try one of Eddies for starters as can not really go wrong at that price.

So am I right in thinking the Isofrane would be more supple/flexible?

I bought Vin's Isofrane to do the exact same test.

I think for £15 Eddies value cannot be beaten and it's one of my favourite straps. The one Isofrane I have seen was very good quality and seemed a little more rigid - perhaps that's the wrong comparison - Eddie's is very flexible and supple, the Isofrane is stiffer by comparison - but not sliff to wear.

    I don't think you'll be dissapointed by Eddie's.

I haven't tried one of Eddie's rubbers (ooer) but do have a 22mm isofrane. It is easily one of the most comfortable straps I own and secures the largest watch I own perfectly on the wrist.

Have had Eddies and it is value for money. But it's very soft so the watch 'wobbles' when worn a bit loose. As the Isofrane is stiffer you can wear your watch more loose without wobbling.

Thanks for all the info, I feel I have a better understanding and will get a timefactors on order and see how I get on. May upgrade to the isofrane if I like the look.

I have had them both, the isofrane is the one that I kept mainly because it was the one you could wear all day and not notice. I found the timefactor version good value but it was almost too soft.

I think still have a 20mm one in a box somewhere that I no longer use, PM me if you don't get on with the timefactor version.

I've had both and apart from appearance the material used is very different. Eddies is almost elastically rubbery whereas the isofrane is much harder whilst still very pliant. The ISO is also easier to wear as it doesn't attract fluff etc.

Can't comment on Eddie's but I do have an Isofrane on my Steinhart 44 auto.
It's a great piece of kit, very comfy on a heavy watch head and as others have said is stiff enough to prevent head wobble but soft enough to stay comfy.
One other thing I like is that almost after a years on and off use it still smells nicely of vanilla.
Nearest strap I have found similar to ISO, is the Borealis

I've put an Isofrane on my Kemmner Octopus and it's by far the comfiest strap to wear out of all my watches.
Not sure if they're worth the money but they are very good straps.

I've just put an Isofrane on my PO, love it and will probably pick up an orange one as well.

Haven't tried the isofrane personally, but I can attest to the quality and comfort of the Omega ones.

You should also check out Bonetto Cinturini. They make great (actual i.e. not silicon) rubber straps.

Just bought one for my PRS 18. Well impressed - complete with deployant clasp for £24.

I got mine from here http://www.paski.chronoline.pl/.

Good prices, but worth buying at least a couple because of the postage. I found they were good to deal with. If there's one you're looking for that's not on their web site, email and ask because they seem to have more than are listed on the web site.

Me too, 22mm Black, grey and blue, all in for about $55 delivered, with a choice of blasted, brushed or black PVD buckles. Bargain (compared to Isofrane, at least).

Mine have arrived, and the black is already on my Pelagos, which looks great.
The blue is nice and dark, and the grey is, if I am honest, a little lighter than I thought.
There are slight moulding ridges to the side, and no texture to speak of on the inside. But they are nice and solid, yet flexible, do not atract lint and have 2 keepers. All good.

    Dave
