Looking forward to seeing more of that Jap Coast Guard ^^^^
Back into my possession, after a couple of years away
The Solar and Atomic GXW-56.
Strange thing this G Shock buying , the all metal gold has been on my wrist since I got it .
A Rangeman came and went , a carbon fiber strap G came and #1 son has it . I put a new red case and strap on his battered orange G and MrsO took a shine to that and is wearing it .
Then today ...
These three came with a DW5600 - the signed one mentioned previously.
And I have an all black GX56 waiting for me in London.
Not sure how this happened !

Arrived. 2nd most expensive one of the whole GWF-D1000 series and surely worth the extra dollars. Froggy's are the main reason why I'm still in the G-Shock game❤️They're simply outstanding

Since they first appeared, all G shocks with very very few exceptions have the day and month the ‘wrong’ way round for us brits, but bearing in mind that’s been the same since my first Casio as a schoolboy in the late 80’s I don’t even notice it now tbh. For me it’s somehow the norm and therefore logical in a digital watch

With reference to the date you would think it would be a very simple option.
Just like 12H/24H, surely every watch could have DDMM/MMDD?
My only assumption is that most countries use MMDD?
Think most countries are like us but Japan (and China) use YYMMDD. Probably the most logical system TBH!

Here is a weird tale for you all. Yesterday morning I was thinking about Ian's all red G Shock and thought I know, I'll go on the forum and get the model number from Ian's posts and then check on e-bay to see if anyone is selling and what sort on money they go for. Sure enough, found Ian's posts and made a note of the reference. I then went on e-bay and found one listed for sale - and guess what, it was only Ian's.
I contacted Ian via PM to see if he fancied cancelling the listing. Anyway, to cut a long story sideways less than 24 hours later the watch is on my wrist.
Not only is the watch in perfect condition, but Ian also supplied two brand new straps and two brand new bezels.
I now know a little more about the Watch. It is a 30th anniversary edition called Rising Red. The wife dismissed it as a cheap looking thing - what does she know
Thanks Ian.
I must concur, this is an absolutely stunning looking watch.
Thanks crazyp. First it's Japan release only. So it's more exclusive as no release outside Japan. I'm not sure but I heard it's limited to 1500 pics. But can't confirm this. The most expensive one so far: The Love The Sea and The Earth GWF-D1000K-7JR ( limited to 1500 pics worldwide )

Stunned to see that there is one in the UK on a well known auction site! If you want to pay £1500?
It's no different to other desirable brands and models, some people seem to have access to models that us mere mortals cannot get hold of. There are a few regulars who seem to list the watches the rest of us want, are they insiders?
Out of interest, I bought my Porter from this guy and he was great to deal with. Sure he was charging a premium, but was able to offer me an unworn stickered watch that no one else could. As usual you pays your money and takes your chances.

Glad you like it Ken
I needed to let something go to balance the books and Im pleased that its remained within the forum
Which leaves me with the DW5030, DW5035 and GW5000
I had listed the two DW's on eBay more to get an indication of what I could get for them if I sold along with spare bezels and straps etc. The way that the bidding was going the 5030 would have achieved over £250 and the 5035 over £200. However I decided to hang on to them. I particularly like wearing the 5035 when out in the evenings. The 5000 is a brilliant daily wear of course and will be the last to go when the inevitable change in direction occurs.
I have spare straps for all and bezels for the 5030 and 5000 - I am hoping to local a few for the 5035 when I can.
I do have a couple of Dw5600's as well - bought for modding with jelly bezels and straps - will post some pics when Ive done them.
Ian

Now this looks very nice. GW-T5030C-1JR limited to 200 world wide with titanium case and a screen pattern reminiscent of the 5035.

I know some of the g-shocks are on the large size, but that thing's absolutely massive.
Very clever of them to be able to make it float though, despite it's gargantuan proportions.
