I was actually really surprised to find it in store, as they seem to be sold out in the UK (my order was from a third party seller from The Netherlands on amazon)

I don't usually go past that shop as it's a bit of a detour (and it's mostly fashion tat that they stock, so not worth popping in for a look), but I saw that watch in their window a few months back and thought I'd go past there today, hoping they'd still have it (even though their website shows it as sold out). Lo and behold, it was still there

The pink and white... I don't know. I have the black/yellow one incoming, as well as the black/red model that you have, so it might have to wait a while.

This solar and atomic G took 3 weeks to arrive from Florida.

This is the only G that I have with this kind of strap.

Even the back of the strap is different.

Feels tougher than some other G straps, yet very comfortable on the wrist.
Anybody else got one like this?

My second one arrived this morning, courtesy of minkle of this parish :

I can see a GW 5600 sub-collection building up in the near future

I'll tell you one thing though, they look much bigger in the pictures than in real life

agreed, they're really cool. I actually wasn't expecting to like this one in person as much as I do, but the black and yellow combo works really well

I've just moved my GA835 onto the combi bracelet because the matt finish on the strap is beginning to look really rather shoddy, after just about a month of wear. It actually looks better, I think, and it's more comfortable. Despite the differences between the textures of the bezel and combi strap, it fits and looks good.

I'll pop up some shots of the wear on the original straps when I get a mo.

I put my previous GW-5000 onto one and it wasn’t for me. It found a home with a good friend from this forum, and I’ve just bought a new GW-5000 to replace it. I will keep it on the original strap this time - a particularly good one on this model.
It will be interesting to see the photos of the wear that you mention David.

I always love a combi. Most of my squares and 6900s are on them. The last to have one fitted was the GW5000 as it didn't quite look right and the original strap is so comfortable. I do know what you mean about the combi with that particular model. The combi makes the watch hug the wrist much better, as the original strap flares out with those undulations close to the case. Overall, it's neater, more comfortable and more resilient.

Here's a rather poor shot of the wear to the finish I mentioned. It's evident on the edges of both sides, where it rubs against my clothes etc. It's more apparent in the flesh. The bezel seems to be less prone to shining up than the straps. I anticipated that this series might be prone to wear, when I first saw them. The 5035 appealed (apart from the price) but obtaining replacement straps and bezels for these SEs would likely be a challenge, so that was a further disincentive.

I know it's not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things, and these are G-Shocks, made to be worn. Still, I would rather they lasted a little longer.
