I keep looking at these and thinking 'is there a better daily watch'?

It just looks too nice to be a 'beater' though

Enjoying my new square, the GW-S5600 with carbon fibre strap and titanium fittings. Solar and atomic in a 47gm watch, love it.

Thanks Andrew, I like the fact that the S5600 and 5000 share the same module but the S5600 is so light you can forget it's on your wrist.

Yes, very good point. I have owned one a couple of times, and you have to love the carbon fibre strap.
The only similar watch that I presently have is the classic GW-M5610.

I had a 5610 previously but that red line put me off, which is silly but just the way it is. :) I did some modding with it and the negative display version some years back to create a "poor man's" GW-5000 - on the left below, and compared to the real thing in the middle. The resultant negative GWM-5610 sold on eBay quickly.

My shot is rubbish but there are many good YouTube clips and shots all over the net.

I ordered mine from a Japanese eBay shop run by ioomobile - £155 by PP. Very good seller, fast delivery and helpful customs description. ;)

Here's a slightly cheesy YouTube clip but it's factual.

EDIT: the ebay seller is actually in Honkers!

I really like that - even though it may be a bit bright for me and I wouldn't use the ABC features. It's still impressive and who doesn't like jelly. :)

Thank you. Yes it is bright, but it’s really nice in person. The LCD display is also two tone as well, so pretty cool.

Stock pic shows it much better than my crappy pics!

I love this. Owned the same one twice!
If this came via SC, it is quite possibly the same watch?

G-9000 mudman on Jays & Kays adapters and nylon strap (perfect fit)

And GW-056BJ with the USA/Japan module, so it won’t synch with the atomic clock in Europe, but hey that’s life!

Anyone any experience of this G-Shock, GD100 MS? I like the tactical look and red/orange back lighting. Has all the usual functions of the models in its price range - currently going for about £62 on Amazon. Can't find any decent reviews though.

    ^^^ I do like those G-Steels.

I prefer the positive display but I'd rather have it on the bracelet.

How about a caseback for a change?

Owned a few of these before, but this December 2017 watch is a recent arrival.

This is truly my Achilles heel when it comes to watches. Like you and Vinnie, I've had a few and despite having an entirely serviceable one in rotation, I've a brand new one incoming from Japan. Why? Coz you just never know... Except we do. Such is the collecting bug. I suppose I should be grateful the GW5000 is not more expensive.

Yes, we definitely appreciate the finer things in life, and the GW-5000 certainly brings those tiny but cool enhancements Perhaps we need a photo of two together, when the new one arrives
Mine is a December 2017 watch, and I am sure that you can guess where it came from?!

Interesting piece of info, for those that dont know.

The serial number on the back (not present on all G Shocks) can be used to date the watch

    the 201E235G above means:

201E - Factory number where is was made
    235 - 235th day of the year
G - Year it was made

so the above watch was made on the 23rd August 2017

You may have known all that, but im sure some people wont know
