Its just solar powered - no atomic and no Bluetooth. I have the 8235 which is the 35th anniversary version - almost identical but steel and a slightly different module - el not led. 519 does seem like a lot tbh but for some reason the Frogman is always expensive. I have a couple and they dont seem any more well made than any other screwback tbh - one of those fanboy watches thats nice, but not as nice as youre lead to believe imho!

Coincidentally looked at that and 2 others Gs in Yellow a few days ago at a dealers in Alicante.

I need something that shouts out.

I sourced a red and a yellow resin set for 2 of my vanilla 5600s about 6 months before that set was released!! Something about a yellow G!

Picked up these two recently. Firstly a GW-B5600SGZ-7 or Five Tiger Generals Limited Edition. I quite like the white and may use it like that in the summer but for now I've swapped the bezel and strap to black. Love the tan and orange on the face.

The other is a GDF100BTN which was a collab with with Burton Snowboards in 2012. Nice pale blue details and a comfy fabric strap. A decent price at 90, especially considering it's unused and like new.

GBX-100 but with a modded or special edition bezel by the looks of it.

Yep thats a GBD-200. I just picked up a GBD-100 which is functionally almost identical, and am really enjoying the new MIP screen. Great legibility even in low light.

I was mucking about in my photo editor, for this week's Friday Thread, and somehow managed to create a GW-5000 snowflake. I have no idea how I did it but I quite like the end result.

Thanks, but on seeing it and the price, I'll pass. A monochrome screen dulls it down too much for me. :(

Im not hugely keen on the 40th release - but as it also has an upgraded module with led backlight you can guarantee there will be other releases in other colours etc going forward.

Eh? Theyve always had a monochrome screen and Id expect a regular edition to be about 99 - so the price and appearance are what youd expect surely?

I meant that the triangular indicators were blue filled while those on the reissue aren't.

G Shock experts, I am seeking your advice please.

I am interested in getting a square/rectangular - like the original one.
I have viewed their website, but get bogged down with all the various model numbers and lettering.

    I have a 6 " wrist so not looking for a large watch - probably 40mm.
An up to date G Shock, that is Solar powered, with possibly Bluetooth and DOES NOT have a negative screen, as I find them more difficult to read.
The 5000 range seems the right model, but I would be guided by you.
    Many thanks

If you really want a smaller one, Id go for a GMDS5600, or a BGD5000U, both of which are marketed at women and are a little smaller than the traditional square, at 40mm. The BGD5000u has more advanced features (radio controlled time, solar charging etc) but is branded as a BABY-G. I have one and I thoroughly recommend it.

If the above arent to your taste, Id recommend a GW5000u. Its a modern G with more advanced features, and a relatively simple design, or a GWB5600 which has similar features + Bluetooth.

I can highly recommend the GW-5000-U but it's a little heavier that other squares due to the steel case back.

If you wanted something ever so slightly smaller and a lot lighter, I would recommend the carbon-fibre strapped GW-S5600U-1JF. This has a very light titanium case back, the upgraded U model with UK date and white backlight. I have the older non-U version but it still has the clearest LCD display I've seen on any G. It's a great watch. The only downside is that the Carbon Fibre strap is not the most flexible, and it's quite long. The default strap with a GW-5000 is the most flexible and comfortable one they make.

It's the GPR-B1000 or a variation thereof. I believe discontinued now.

I fancied one myself but got a less expensive alternative in the end:

G-Shocks wear different, forget about regular watch sizes. I have the same wrist size and you should be fine with the regular square, eg GW-B5600 series (giving this example, as you mentioned Bluetooth).

I wouldn't say equivalent - I think they were both available for a time and mine has fewer features than the Rangeman did. Bit smaller as well.

I bought this one specifically because I absolutely hate it. Its plasticky, cheap feeling and feels like its burning me when I wear it although that last one is probably psychosomatic.
This means that when Im doing tip runs, gardening or walking through dodgy areas in foreign climes, I can beat the cr@p out of it and keep on smiling. Any watch I vaguely like would get babied too much.
Its single saving grace is that telling the time is easy on my old eyes, even the digital bit is vaguely legible.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I'm going to look at the characteristics of each model.

See what I mean by all the different numbering and lettering.
No wonder its so confusing to someone who has never followed them1
