GMW-B5000 with black Ti bezel, jaysandkays adapters and a Haveston “Sabre” NATO. I really like this combination!

My Timex Ironman, which has been brilliant is coming to the end of the trail I think and I wouldn't mind replacing it with a G-Shock.
Having no knowledge of G-Shocks and been literally 'shocked' at the size of the range of watches on offer, can anybody suggest a model that would satisfy the following requirements?

    1. Step-Tracker is required for daily use / hiking.
    2. I understand that G-Shocks by their nature are large watches but something on the smaller side would be my preference.
    3. Must have good visiblility / display as my eyesight isn't great. Would prefer digital but maybe analogue would be better for clarity?
    4. Not fussed on colourway, but no pinks or girlie colours!
    5. Nice to haves would include - atomic time update and heart monitor.

I'm not interested in Solar power options or GPS Tracking.

    All suggestions gladly received.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Can’t comment on ownership but the newish GBX-100 ticks most of those boxes. I’ve been thinking about picking one up for a while. Negative display but supposedly very clear.

Got this as a beater and it’s perfect- strap was a bit cr*p and broke so I ordered a set do DW5600 adapters from eBay
There’s a couple of mm play in them but I’m pretty pleased

Anyone know if g shocks have different levels of brightness of negative display (if that makes sense)?

It's a different module in the full metal watches, different LCD technology. Far more legible than the standard.

As WarrenVrs says, the latest generation STN LCDs have vastly superior readability compared to previous TN LCDs.

Still not superior enough imho - positive display for me every time. I really wanted the black full metal but still found the display lacking. Might be fine if you live somewhere sunny, not much good on a dull, wet winter afternoon in the uk!

New arrival. I'm having that feeling I always get when I put on a new g-shock - why do I own other watches?

This and a dress watch, and I could sell up.

A typical day my alarm goes off at 04.30, leave home 05.00, at the office 06.00 (start every day with an hour in the gym).

Today I worked from home and went to (another) gym a bit later in the morning,
