Very nice Andrew! I didn't realise the red version has a negative digi display, it suits it, as does the hour hand. Unlike the GA835, you seem to have more of a 3D dial going on and no horrible plastic buckle too! I assume the second hand hits, all the way round.And sudden inspiration led to this....

Mine has been worn for the last two weeks and that's it now a whole one second fast against Time.Is and the GW-5000. I can live with that accuracy for a battery driven, non-atomic. :)

Thank you very much. I was particularly after a strong red G, after seeing so many other great looking ones on here. The negative displays seem to have improved over the years, and despite my deteriorating eyesight, I have no problem reading them now. The bonus is they really make the dial much more aesthetically pleasing.

Today's G is a Master of G Gulfmaster GN-1000RG-1AER. Am very much liking the G's with the metal bezels at the moment.

Interested to hear how this performs....for running I currently use a Suunto Ambit 3 - I can upload routes to it for longer fell races and it'll work for 20 hours in 1 sec GPS mode too, but dang, I do like a G-Shock....
I tried to purchase this model recently and was told it was discontinued. It shows it on the Canada g shock site but is apparently not available and has been discontinued. My purchase stemmed from a recent trip back the the Uk and a few hours in the gshock shop while my kids were in Hamleys.Ruby checking out the retro G
I never really saw the appeal for whatever reason but now am quite taken by their complex simplicity (yes... I know!)
So it now seems that I own three G-shocks and if I can find a yellow one locally four. Two more I tried to order from g shock Canada were also discontinued... is it common for Casio to show them on their website but for them not to be current stock anymore ?
Regardless, this thread is certainly not helping keep that number down and I can see how someone quickly ends up with a dozen or so of these things.

Yes, it does happen. For example (this isn't a typical example, but still), they offer this remote-control watch and for a very long time, they also had the DBC-150 listed - I don't think either of these have been in production for at least ten years.
I was thinking of getting the yellow Throwback 5600 myself actually, because I like the orange accents on the "rehaut", but I was going to swap the yellow bezel for a regular black one. But then I did a mock-up in MS Paint and decided it would be somehow too sombre and monochromatic. Which is good, because I'd have to live with the backlight logo, which is my pet peeve with G-shocks, so I think it's just as well.
Totally agree with this. I always avoid the illuminated logos.
They seem to be there to stop you reading what you’re trying to illuminate?!

I like the black bezel idea. For myself, the yellow styling was to match a new yellow canoe I’ve ordered... an esquif prospecteur 15. I suspect it’ll be renamed the banana boat at some point.

Don't particularly like G-Shocks; I've had a couple but they were never getting any wear so have been moved on.
