Rolex Submariner
Yes!!!! The Tudor Black Bay wins for me, it's superb!! :)

No, not to me. But it's not less cool either. They're both great watches.
Depends on where you store them I guess. Or who you are trying to impress.
No - wanted to like the BB but it didn't happen when I saw it in the flesh, so opted for the Sub C.
Dont want to upset anyone but neither are 'cool'
Rolex Sub = BMW / Audi
What's cool about that?!
Tudor black bay red is "cooler", it is different and has got different colors and depth. The SubC is more refined, sober with a higher level of fit and finish. It also wears smaller.
A matter of personal opinion. They are both cool watches. Tudor is definitely less common.
If you mean "cool" as in keeping to current fashion, then definitely. I know which one I'd rather own in 2025 though.
I don't think it's cool to try very hard, and physically at least an older Submariner is pretty low-key as watches go, especially these days. Neither is cool if you insist on hitching your cuffs up and turning your watch so that light bounces off it and shows off its brand and polished parts (been there, seen that!).
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
It depends...
Modern/contemporary sub vs Tudor BB --> Tudor probably wins by a small margin because it's less common, but who cares.
Good vintage sub vs Tudor BB --> Sub wins.
70% say sub. You have your answer ;)
the burgandy black bay is VERY cool imo.. Sub is iconic. hard to choose, but i went with the tudor
So, what changed in the 40 minutes between posting this thread, and putting your BB up for sale?
Is this a disguised sales puff, or a symptom of your ADHD attitude to watches? C'mon, man. Buy something, wear it (and nothing else) for a month, then make a decision. Otherwise you're just chasing your tail, and you'll never appreciate what you've got.
the sub has the heritage so no real competition. Snowflake vs sub though.. a harder choice.
Ooh, how embarrassing! I do apologise to the OP (and to Senraw, too!). That'll teach me to get on my soapbox without checking my facts. I simply muddled up the two posters, thinking they were the same person!
I'll leave my embarrassing faux pas up as a warning to others to think before they post!
Sorry!

Both mass produced watches, so neither, but the Sub has a certain iconic status, whereby the Tudor is a little, well, Micheal Kors.
I love the BB (especially the dial) but I cannot get over the thick, slab sided case. Were it a tad thinner I would be all over it. I still might get one at some point but will live happily with my Tudor for the time being.
Its not cooler but it is good for the money, both very cool watches in different price zones
RIAC
Agreed, but the rollie is more of an icon and, as others have pointed out, will more capably stand the test of time in terms of held value.
To be brutal, the tudor - despite being a very nice watch - will always be seen as a cut-price cousin of the rolex sub.
That said, a watch forum is something of a non-starter if you want to find out if somethings "cool" or not...
Cool? Is that the same as which do you prefer?
IMHO There is nothing cool whatsoever about striding into an AD and purchasing either at full RRP - it is an exercise in spending a lot of money, which is not cool in and of itself.
Finding a nice vintage sub (tudor or rolex) could be cool, I guess.
In terms of basic looks and peformance, I would say the BB blue has it. The red one is too loud to be cool (imho), as is the rolex sub due to its shininess (it is also too expensive - not cool).
I dont know if either modern versions are "cool",some of the vintage Subs I would say are cool?
Think thats a bit harsh though,I reckon there must be a lot more kudos and heritage to Tudor than Michael Kors! I know which I would rather have, and I don't think I would particularly want a MK if someone was giving them away.
I think the Pelagos looks way cooler than the Black Bay, and quite possibly cooler than a Submariner. Especially on the rubber.
I can break it down for you...
Batman = Rolex
Robin = Tudor
Simon = Rolex
Garfunkel = Tudor
Abbot = Rolex
Costello = Tudor
SpongeBob = Rolex
Patrick = Tudor
Charlie Brown = Rolex
Linus = Tudor
Dean = Rolex
Jerry = Tudor
Ren = Rolex
Stimpy = Tudor
...and so on. So, both are cool, but one is cooler than the other. It is up to you to figure out which is which.
If I had to pick I'd say Tudor as a brand is cooler. Rolex will never be cool - it's too obvious a display of wealth. It's trying too hard.
My first and only large expensive watch purchase is likely to be a Sub. I'm not cool.
As you've all said, cool is a relative term. Walking into a shop and buying something isn't really cool. Neither watch in it's current guise is exclusive.
That said, I voted Sub, it has real heritage, where as the TBB is actually a pastiche and the artificially aged leather strap on the TBB is particularly tacky in principle if you think about it.
The TBB is far better VFM than the sub and in red (ymmv) offers far more visual charm, imo.
vintage watches are cool, by definition of availability, heritage, looks, etc - compare blue snow flakes and 5513s all day long, you won't find a winner, except for the owners!
As I think mentioned above, the Pelagos is imo actually the cool watch of the current tudor range, tangible design links to yesteryear, modern construction and materials, with the cachet of the bracelet design.
You can dress it down, you know. I wear my 14060M on a carbon strap and I suspect most people don't even recognize it as a Rolex because it's not on the universally recognized oyster bracelet. In the case of the Rolex Sub, the bracelet is as much a part of the look to the layman as the watch itself. But all that aside, I think both watches are equally cool. For my part, I like Linus more than Charlie Brown, and Garfunkel's voice is like a choir of angels all by itself.
Rolex is still the best known 'expensive' watch brand amongst the general public. It's the brand non-WIS buy to show off so it simply cannot ever be cool. You know it, I know it, John Mayer knows it but John Mayer would be cool in a Casio. Not that there's anything wrong with a Casio IMO.
As to the other brands, I'd say AP is still a specialist brand that non-WIS aren't aware of. Breitling and Omega are Rolex wannabies in terms of branding. Nothing against them but they are still, and prob always will be, chasing Rolex's status.
Sub by a landslide!
& the older the cooler!!!
